    Beginners notes

To help our forum members, supplying as much information when detailing
    your problems will help us.

    Things like your:

    Operating system version, model number.

Any recent changes to your system BOTH SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE.

    Suspected viruses

Files recently deleted, AND METHODS USED.

    Any other changes

Actions used by you or others.

Do a search on the laptop-forums site, you never know someone else may
    have had the same problems.

    (ONE TIP)

Performing a system restore in windows operating system to and earlier time can sometimes resolve problems. Type RESTORE from the windows start button icon or in the search windows box windows 10.

Most new laptops come with a factory recovery facility built in, in case major
    problems occur.

If you are unsure how to use this facility go to your manufactures home page, and
    type in factory recovery.

There is a freeware program from the makers of CCleaner called Speccy which can generate a summary of your system specs for you. That may come in handy as well - even if you don't share the full detailed report, but include the brief summary. It will save you some steps of looking up all that manually and typing it out manually.

I'm glad you bumped this thread up @something back. System Restore can be a lifesaver. I've used it a few times in the past, and have tried it with my current issues, but that's not helping this time. The information will still come in handy with others, though, particularly those of us who sometimes forget the option is available.

@OhioTom76 Thanks, I love CCleaner, so will have to look for that program.

This is a really good guide :) I will have this in mind the next time I post a question! This is a must read for all the new members, why not make this thread a ''sticky'' one? By making it visible all the time by making this a sticky post, you will help users find it very easily.
