Could we have a nLite thread? We all are trying to get the best out of XP on our slow ssd, would be nice to give one another some tips on how to make our customized version of XP that would work on the AA1. I am aware that the MSFN forum for instance has a large nLite thread, but it is not AA1 specific. Even if we could most of the time refer to that forum, it would be nice to have our own discussion thread on the topic. What do you think?

what would make it AA1 specific? People use Windows for different reasons and thus, remove different things that are not needed by them.

Talking about driver integration for instance. I have successfully integrated drivers for other laptops, but fails to make it work with the AA1 drivers...
Also, modifying XP with nLite to optimize specifically the AA1' spec

I am using nLite for all my PCs and for the AAO too.
No problems here integrating drivers for it.. can give you some pointers if you need..
But there is no 'optimizing' for the AAO, unless you mean optimizing for the specific use you have for it.

If you think discussion on this subject is a dead path, so be it.
Help on integrated AA1 drivers in nLite would be welcome though. Something i'm doing is wrong...

I just dont think there are optimizations that work for everyone, apart for the obvious ones when dealing with nLited OS.
That is for example, integrating as many things as you can as opposed to install them at a second stage saves you a lot of disk space when windows is installed.

What problems are you facing with integrating the drivers? How are you integrating them and which one of them does not succeed?

Well as it was said, it's hard to recommend how to make your special nLited installation, what to drop or what to keep... It depends on software what you intend to use, because when you tweak a lot, you will have a non working OS. Although its for EEE, a good place to read about it is http://www.i64x.com/eeexp.php.
Or another approach is to try out an already nLited system - e.g. Rons image based on TinyXP, or Performance Edition of XP. I had to make my own OS, as TinyXP is very crippled (cannot install Canon printer driver, most of regional settings are not included and cannot be added), so I took the Performance Edition and applied some tips from the EEE nLite tweak guide.
You just have to keep trying. It took 2 days for me to get a well balanced XP suitable for my needs

The one thing i don't integrate are drivers, as they are usually always updated by the time I do a reinstall and prefer to only install the driver once instead of having to remove older drivers and then install the newer ones to avoid any potential conflicts.

It should be pretty easy to do, download all the drivers from Acer''s support site, add them using nlite (not all, just either the WDM/XP/x86/ia32 or whatever folders the actual XP-32 bit drivers are in).

moved to windows where it is relevant!
(Why does everyone post in generaly when it says dont post here unless it is about the aao generally eg upgrades etc)

    Anyway Merry Christmas

I am doing it what i believe is the right way: I have a 'drivers' folder. In that folder are one folder for each device's drivers. I have extracted all the .inf files for the devices that have multiple inf. files and I select 'multiple drivers folder' when I integrate them. I select 'single file' for the devices that have just one .inf.
The 'last session.ini' will only list one inf. from the multiple .inf folders and the resulting install clearly does not integrate the AA1 drivers. I have tried countless times, without any success...

I was suggesting a subject not officially discussed before and did not really know where to do it. No intention to p**** moderators off here, but at least it gives you something to do. Arrest me if I have comitted a criminal offence.

    Anyway Happy New Year

Do any of you nLite users still have problems with the deaf mic? If any of these xp varients solved the lack of sound from the built in mic, they would gather some aa1 users the deaf mic problem.
