    Hello,

Just bought a new Aspire One running Linpus. A110-Ab

When I turn on the machine the Home Screen shows no applications. Only a stripped screen appears with a search bar.

When I use the search bar Firefox starts.

Otherwise I cannot access any applications or a terminal.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Stripped Home Screen

    xfce-setting-show

Cannot activate right click. No applications are available.

    Just bought the machine.

The first two times I turned on the machine the applications and Home Screen appeared.

Now no applications appear. Only the Firefox search bar.

I can change the background via xfce.

If you do alt-F2 to get a command line and then

    Code:
    xfdesktop2
    what happens?

Running the command gives the current screen print as the background.

    1. Have access to the bottom menu bar.
    2. Can access the terminal.
    3. The Home button on bottom menu bar does not work.
    4. Cannot access any programs
    5. No right click.

Did you mean to attach a screen print, or am I misinterpreting you?

It sounds to me as though the setup file for the simplified Linpus desktop is damaged; that or the xfdesktop2 binary itself.

Given how recently you bought the machine, I'd frankly be inclined to get it swapped, if that's feasible; I think it's probably mendable (possibly by using the recovery CD or by recreating the relevant files) but if something has corrupted this quickly there's a nasty suspicion the internal SSD is not up to scratch.

    Thanks David,

    Will heed your advice.

FYI. The screen background image changed to the current screenshot print.
