    Hi all -

    I'd appreciate any insights, instructions ... I have a Linpus system w/ 512 RAM and 8G SSD. Two days back, Firefox simply stopped working. I click on the icon, and there is a second of searching, but ultimately no browser. I found a couple of threads, and tried their solutions, but no joy. Some history of my diagnosis efforts below, in case they help.

    Ideas?
    Shawn

    I tried following this thread:
    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10081&p=65039&hilit=firefox+won%27t+open#p65039

    I've opened the terminal and typed in "firefox", but nothing.
    I also typed "which firefox" and got
    /usr/bin/firefox
    Then I typed "grep web .config/xfce4/desktop/group-app.xml" and got
    <app sequence="0">/usr/share/applications/linpus-web.desktop</app>
    <app sequence="6">/usr/share/applications/edesktop/webmail.desktop</app>
    Finally I tried "grep firefox /usr/share/applications/linpus-web.desktop" and
    Exec=firefox
    Icon=acs_firefox.png

    Then I saw another thread:
    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5473&p=36269&hilit=firefox+won%27t+open#p36269
    I tried their advice, though I had not installed FF3 ... and typed "ls -l /usr/bin/fire*" which gives me
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 6108 2008-6-12 01:35 /usr/bin/firefox

    One possible problem is that FF creates a lockfile and it won't start if the lock file exists.
    Look at .mozilla/firefox/default*/ in your home directory for a file (actually a symlink) called "lock". If it's there with FF not running, remove it.

    I have the same problem. Remove the file .parentlock does not resolve this problem.
    This append after a crash.

    I have removed the directory profile; Firefox recreate a new directory but the file .parentlock come again. I dont understand why ????? :(
