    Dear All,
I have a problem with the internet connection on my AA1 Linux.
I am connecting to a WLAN using WEP security.
I have set it up, and my firefox is running well, which I can browse to any website.

But, why my aspire one mail and messenger no internet access? It keep on failed when try to connect to server.
Also when I go to system>>Add/Remove Software, it prompts me error " Cannot retieve repository metadata (repomd.xml)

Also under the terminal, if I type whet "http://blablabla" , also no connection from Terminal.

So internet only on my firefox.

    Any body can help me?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Victor.

I try to help you to identify
    In terminal
    $ping www.google.com
If you could find out ping ack
    network is connected

But if you see loss packet
It seem like something wrong in network manager

    Thank you

yes, I get ping ack from google.com
In fact, I can browse normally using firefox, only my messenger and one mail does not work.
    Including sudo yum not working.

Hi, did you find a solution for your problem? I just got an AA1, and I cant connect to MSN from my college WLAN, but firefox browsing is fine.

First, for Messenger, have you run the updates? Microsoft change their login systems regularly to try to lock out any competing products; I'm having no problems connecting from the fully updated Messenger on mine.

For email: what server are you trying to connect to, and using what service (pop3, imap)? Can you ping that server from the command line?

Have you any ports or services blocked on your wireless router?

What repositories have you got set up? Post the output of
    Code:
    ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
    then we can see.
