Hey guys. I have the AAO 110 (Linux version) and I changed the HDD to a 1.8" and installed windows with SP3 and all the drivers. Everything seems to work ok, but I get no sound out of my computer. I don't know weather it's a hardware or software problem... So, I shoot here. Well, do you guys know what cable connects the soundcard with the motherboard so I can check if it might be loose? And what other actions might you take software-wise to get the sound working on XP with SP3... I read something about UAA, but then I was told this was included in SP3, so now I'm kinda clueless to what might be the problem. Plz help. :)

    just to clarify,
    - do you hear any sound when plugging in headphones?
    - in device manager, can you see any devices with exclamation marks or question marks?
    - what exact version of the drivers did you install?

I suggest you look into the software configuration before trying to reopen the laptop.

no, I had no sound from headphones.
In device manager everything looks fine
I installed the ones from Acers homepage (Audio_Realtek_v.5.10.0.5628)

mmm.. it could be a hardware issue then..
the drivers you have installed should be working fine and most of the people with sound issues can still hear playing when using the headset.
I opened my AAO a good while ago, but i seem to remember a white connector plugging in horizontally on the main board. i think it had a red and a black cable. The one in my AAO did seem slighly disconnected, however i did not have any sound issue at that stage (except the mike).

If you're not sure though, I would wait for someone that remembers a bit better then myself before attempting this. The less you open the thing, the better it is.
Sorry I couldnt be of more help,
    N

Yes, I know have reduced the problem to a hardware one. Also, the light on the powerbutton does not work, as the USB on the right side. So there must be some cable that is not connected, I suppose. Or there is something wrogn with the 3305 BIOS. Anyone have an idea?

I solved this problem, i have loose connection on the motherboard, that cable what leaves on the USBx2 card. I reopen, put this cable on tight and now its working :D.

The speakers use the small white 4pin connector on the top side of the motherboard. This little connector is quite tricky to remove and replace so check that one again.

IMHO, the LCD and daughterboard connectors are even harder to remove so I never touch them.

Yeah, the cable is connected now. But the headphonejack seems to register that there is a cable plugged in at all times (atleast from the driver utility in vista...) any idea why this is happening?
