No sound through HDMI

    I have just been given a Netbook Acer Aspire 1810TZ-412G25
    It has a HDMI port on it. I connected my TV to it and watched something off the internet no problems, Video and Audio 100%. I then tried to watch a video that has been saved onto the hard drive , Video 100% but Audio nothing out of the TV or even the Netbook . When I unplug the HDMI the sound comes out of the Netbook. Can anyone please help me. I'm not that computer savvy
    I've worked out if you start the movie before you plug in the HDMI cable then it works fine. but if you plug in HDMI before movie started you get no sound. Anyone got any solutions to this ????
