    Hi,

I got an acer aspire one from currys for GBP 199 last week and installed Windows XP SP3 immediately. Everything went fine. Except that I am unable to install IE7.

Every time i try, half way through an error will come up and will ask me to restart the machine.

When I restart a html page named "Internet Explorer Trouble shooting will be present on the desktop.

Any body has similar issues? What is the solution

After installing Xp and then SP3, my system now fails when trying to install any update, including IE7. At this point, I have no idea why.

Are you sure your windows XP installation isn't corrupted? I know a lot of people who can install IE 7 perfectly fine.

Its always possible my installtion is corrupt, but I did the install yesterday from a Genuine Micrsoft CD (base install, no service packs) then let the system update itself to get SP3. Now it has 16 updates already downloaded buts fails to install any. I have 4GB left on the C: drive, so I assume disk space is not the problem. I have no other software istalled, that was to be the next step.

deepu_vk, can you install any other updates or is it only IE7 giving you a problem.

Since its a very new install, I may just re-install, but I can see no reason why it would be different other than the fact that it is Windows.

    Hi

IE7 Installed fine on my Acer One 120g XP version but that came with service pack 3 pre installed.

I have the same issue with another Acer Laptop that’s about 2 years old after you install service pack 3 even after reformatting the HR 1st it will only let you complete one update (this can be of all high priority ones ) after that all the rest down load but fail to install.
