notification-daemon-xfce conflicts with notify-daemon

This error is starting to get very annoying. I gather it has something to do with the repositories for fedora8 and fedora9 being changed.
Has anyone found a way to fix this? (apart from this-> http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/dependency-problems-on-acer-aspire-one.html <-, which doesn't work at all: you can uninstall firefox through rpm, but the yum reinstall fails with the error in the subject line)

I recently restored my machine to factory defaults (using the recovery CD/USB stick), then did live update, set up the normal xfce desktop. That's all, no yum update or anything known to break the package manager. But now, it's impossible to install fusion-icon, for instance, due to that annoying 'notify conflict'.
