I purchased an Acer Aspire One recently under Linux
I am not what happened but it seems that I have lost access to the Browser and the OneMail program.
I have managed to reinstall the Firefox 2 though the Add/Remove Program functionality but I have still failed to get a decent Mail Client.
I cannot find the location of the OneMail program on the disc even with a find command.

I have read that similar things might happen after an installation-upgrade of Firefox 3.
Some have recommanded to extract some lib.so of the previous Firefox 2 rpm file that are required by OneMail (Which I cannot find on the net to reinstall) and copy these library file in /usr/lib. This doesn't work yet on my machine.

Other attempts such as installing Thunderbird have failed

Could you please advise me on how to regain access at least to the previous OneMail Client ?
Should I use the Recovery DVD or can I get it from a Support Site?

    THank you
    Frederic

    It is me again.
Just to bring some new description concerning my issues with the installayion of Thunderbird and Evolution.

I have used the Package Manager for an upgrade with Thunderbird
Here is the error message ... Could you please provide some comments ?

    Unresolvable requirement libpanel-applet-2.so.0 for gnome-utils
    Unresolvable requirement libgnome-desktop-2.so.2 for gnome-utils
    Unresolvable requirement redhat-menus for kdelibs
    Unresolvable requirement libgnome-menu.so.2 for gnome-screensaver
    Unresolvable requirement redhat-menus >= 1.11 for htmlview

I have then used the Package Manager for Evolution
Here is the error message ... Could you please comment and suggest some ideas ?
    Unresolvable requirement libpanel-applet-2.so.0 for gnome-utils
    Unresolvable requirement libgnome-desktop-2.so.2 for gnome-utils
    Unresolvable requirement libgnome-menu.so.2 for gnome-screensaver

I also have had messages like these ... What does it mean> What should I do?
file /usr/share/desktop-directories/Internet.directory from install of gnome-menus-2.20.1-1.fc8 conflicts with file from package xfdesktop-acer-lp-1652.mcs_patched
file /usr/share/desktop-directories/Settings.directory from install of gnome-menus-2.20.1-1.fc8 conflicts with file from package xfdesktop-acer-lp-1652.mcs_patched

THank you very much for this site.

Have you updated the repositories (as described here? The mismatched dependencies you are getting seem usually to be resolved once this has been done.

    Dear David
Sorry for being so late and thank you for your help.

I have tried to implement your suggestion and have been through the topics around
After the update I have also tried to update the rest of the packages on the Aspire one with the Package Updater in the Admin menue
But still I have this error message.
    notification-daemon-xfce conflicts with notify-daemon

This message seems to tell me that the updater is apparently not knowing that the aspire one environment is an xfce ... well I really I m not sure.
THe installation of Thunderbird or Evolution doesn't work as well.
Do you have any suggestion ?
    Sincerely yours
    Frederic

    Well

I have installed yumex the Yum Extender graphical interface with this command #yum install yumex
This interface is said to be more powerful than the default pirut (Cf Fedora Unleashed of Andrew Hudson 2008 edition)
It luckily got installed and run perfectly.
The installation of thunderbird went well and the application is running.

I do not know if yumex is the answer as I also have tried commands such as
su -c 'yum update --exclude yum --exclude yum-utils'
in order to go around some problem in the upgrades ....

I'll try evolution but anyway thank you all for this forum and site
