I was reading in the steam discussions on 77 how a commenter was saying 77 is a failure of an open world and just wanted to comment on this in general including other games and their open worlds.

I've played a ton of 77 and yeah I agree the open world interactivity is severly lacking compared to GTAV. 77 is mostly about graphics and style, the story is very short and nonsensical really. At least the action movie story of GTAV doesn't try to be so serious as 77 about ridiculous things.

The open world in 77 is severly limited. No flying, No real underwater aspects or water stuff like boats and such in a real gameplay sense. Yeah there's some diving to things but it's very limited and yeah kerrys boat mission but it's mostly a cut scene. There are no boats you can drive nor is there any underwater world. GTAV on the other hand has a whole submerssible side gig, you steal a sub in dramatic action movie style, you crash a plane into a lake, etc And has plenty of boating going on not just in missions.

77 has no flying gameplay, in fact the airport has no planes going or coming and just has a static shuttle rocket sitting there. Even the airport isn't really populated or interactive. GTAV has planes, helos, etc I'm not even going to touch mods here in any games just vanilla but you can compare that also and tells the same story.

77 has a few mysteries like the bike one, getting the monster truck one and likely a couple more but otherwise nothing. GTA and RDR2 are full of mysterious occult story telling. Aliens, bigfoot, chilliad, princess izabeau, window girl, serial killer, and likely more I've forgot there's so many in RS open world games.

In 77 it's rare to see npcs riding motos where that's been normal in gta since at least VC. There are a few places like stores to interact but in most of it they're just props. RS games have much more interactivity w stores, car washes and such.

The challenges in GTA and RDR are well known by now. 77 added these in here and there but were really not that good. They literally added a GTA autogenerated recurring gigs 3 years after release. And even later got the ability to do Claire, nces same 4 racing missions without the story element, no new tracks. We did have the ncpd scanner which ran into the 50ish number but it's the same thing like go there disable or kill everyone combat thing, grab the item on the ground and done. If you were just a completionist and good at sneaking you could just grab the marker and not bother w the combat lol

There were no collectibles default in 77, someone added that in via mods. There WERE the death scenes there but most would never find the vast majority of them and a whole mod Fixers Hidden Gems was made to point them out across the world. I don't need to go into this for gta, especially gtaV which had multiple different versions of them like spaceship parts and such.

The hideouts in 77 could be bought but there was little need to go back to them except mission related. GTAs had various versions of this, the most memorable to me being Franklins hollywood hills mansion. Other than forcing save only there, which I think 5 did, there's never been too much need to go back. gta4 also had this req as the others did too, console focused there no doubt. We could never buy the edgerunners mansion in normal gameplay in 77 which is a shame really, it's by far the best one. Later you can get Kerrys Mansion as a place you can shower and such but I don't think you can sleep there. Would have been nice to purchase Dennys mansion or do something with the gated dead casino that's farther back.

In 77 unless you had a psycho level system and used mods its empty in many places which makes no sense for a city with that size of infrastructure. A smaller world would have made more sense for that game. The world comes off as a pretty stage, whereas GTA worlds are part of the interactivity and have a life of their own, if not as pretty as 77. RDR2 was good at this also but not that hard when it's going to be much more empty for obvious reasons.

There's a lot more random strangers to do stuff w in gta-rdr games then 77 which had none afaik. TW3 you could wander around and pickup rando missions and such also, a much better open world also. So there was more than just pretty graphics to induce exploring. I'm by nature an explorer so did it anyways in 77 but many would need a payoff to go to the next hill and such and after a bit of exploring knowing there's nothing it's hardly worth it. This is a huge problem in the vast badlands also, other than ncpdr and missions there's not much there to do or payoff, no unique weapons or items. The same goes for the protein farms and the desert airport region, vast wasted filler really. In GTA5 and San Andreas I had the idea of a James Bond playground type of world which was awesome from a fun gameplay aspect and the exploration had some cool side stuff like biking, racing and etc

GTA worlds are grounded in some relation to real places which is a strength as it limits the hot air we got in Night City. They are vastly better open worlds. And fantasy open worlds like TW3 do have limitations also like no tech other than magick so its by horse or walk outside of fast travel. Driving wasn't well done in 77 either, terrible handling, and they later added in the obnoxious gang stuff making it even more miserable. The racing or lack thereof was mentioned. 5 had cartoon handling but it was predictable and fun, 4 had more realistic which in some cases is better but in others is terrible, bikes come to mind there.

The idea that someone is going to chase you down like in the gangs mechanic is laughable, that's not real unless under very specific circumstances it wouldn't be a general always on sort of thing but the jewtrannies at cpdur have retardation so think this is what's needed. Overdoing it in search of "look at what we did" mentality like a child that craves attention and accolades.

So yeah for those reasons and more 77 fails as an open world. The story is thin and I'll comment about that in the 77 thread shortly as I think about it more. So other than graphics 77 is a downgrade from GTA5 from 2013 and TW3 from 2015. It's a newish story that has a lot of style and prettyness to it, transhumanism is pushed as is pron in various forms. Hermetic-Kabbalist credo really. The braindance mechanic was abandoned largely never really developed outside of some missions where it's pushed way too much like the River personal missions. You're forced to do 2-3 one after another and after once on a replay they are tedious. The personality stealing and mask appearance changing was only ever in one or two missions in the lone dlc, never to be used again for the most part.

I'll comment on other open worlds as I think about them but that's the conclusion on 77 vs gta open worlds. GTA is a MUCH better more complete open world game then 77 which really needed to be a much smaller but more detailed game outside of graphics. A deus ex smaller world would have been better, with a much longer story, more densely populated smaller world, natural side missions you can find or not, a more diverse perks and such system like in 1.63 rather than the dumbed down 2.0 version and just plain higher quality all around. Again this excludes the mind blowing graphics of the game.

The mods for me are what drew me into 77 way too much, a lot more than GTA games which are typically harder to mod especially 5 which is online focused and changes versions so much as to make it a huge hassle to mod for those not interested in online gaming nor being tied to some rs account to play a sp only run. I have interest in the exotic cars add ons, clothing items for a sexy nerd punk character I have, QOL improvements that cpdr neglected, weather for a more atmospheric game, longer nights in night city, aids for exploration like fixers hidden gems, lighting and color mods to make it look even better, perf tweaks, new hair styles, fixing bugs etc and this is an easy game to mod manually, just drag and drop mostly and most mods are not tied to versions like clothes and cars, hair, lighting and weather in most cases etc

Modding makes more sense in offline focused sp GTAs before 5 but there's not nearly as many nor the graphics limitations and non-customized character limit that for me also. That's actually a good thing because modding can become more than the game really happened to me in 77 more than any other game. The story is stale after doing the initial lifepaths prequels in a replay as is all the rest after a while but adding a ferrari in adds time and play to it, a new peice of clothing, new hairstyle, new lighting or weather mod, etc I guess from the standpoint of buying these overpriced games it makes sense to extend the interest but if you have access to hundreds of free games per day it makes little sense after a point. Most games are nowhere near worth 60+ dollars for the vanilla content and 77 for just the story and side missions is not worth that for the average gamer and PL isn't worth 30$ but in general the sale prices for non modders are worth the price.

In RDR2 I actually learned IRL stuff like poker and about fishes, period guns and horses, and if you do the herbalist side stuff can learn something real there. All fantastic imo Making learning about real world stuff in games is fantastic, the only thing you learn whether you know it or not, in 77 is the whole hermetic-kabbalist mindset and future. The rest makes little to no sense and has no value to it other than simple entertainment-distraction. RDR2 is RS greatest most detailed game to date if the slowest one with a frustrating shoehorned story that just goes in circles until the finale. It's unpleasant when they insert the fake history per marxism also and I'm not a fan of the zaniness of some of it like the moonshine bar mission and such.

The terrible mission where you kill a whole family off and burn down their home and farm essentially putting many out of work and livelihood is also disgusting. Not to mention if they were growing food crop this also deprived the local population of a food source. Was it really necessary to find out the boy is in St Denis? Ok why not the gang DOESN't torch the mansion and uses it as a hideout for a time, then leaving those not wanted to stay there? Or just taking one or two and using techniques to get the info needed out of them? The whole missing gold so manipulating two dynasties is nonsense as well.

The idea that Arthur is some good guy is nonsensical as well, at least the shoehorned story parts of it. Having a "rep" bar outside of missions is also nonsensical, so you HAVE to murder a whole town and dozens of officers in a mission but you're rep bar can be untouched in open world play? Huh? This is the idea of kabbalistic balance which is a fake one btw. The masons symbolize it in there checkerboard imagery. Doing bad can be seen as a way to push the good and vice versa which is insanity.

And holy shti I booted up GTAV last night and it.looked.amazing to me of course in places the textures are dated but for a game that originally released like 2013 it still is a top game visually and the rest of the alive open world.

The more customization of your character and mods in 77 still give it a more interactive edge besides the more limited dead world and the many many visual and ai bugs that are there. Things that RS did as far back as San Andreas are amazing that 77 didn't just copy those, cops, the world etc are way better in V then 77.

V is funner to play, 77 is more sex and a mature fleshed out dialogue that pops more has more sharp edge to it. 77 unless you mod like I do, you put down after under 40hrs or so. V you play for YEARS or over 100hrs, online is mega there. 77, once a game w more in game mind blowing graphics comes along, will lose a ton of those focused on the best visuals possible. That may be the sequel years from now who knows. Maybe GTA6 will be that, guaranteed mega hit no doubt.

The visual filters that V uses are amazing, the hills look photorealistic to socal to me and I lived there. The sunsets are amazing, it's an alive world and looks amazing in general still. And I'm vanilla visuals there. RS just hit the right visual design so well w V whereas 4 looks muddy and flat compared if it's non modded visually. Thats a bit of a design choice for the gritty dark story Vs. the colorful action movie hollywood of V so there's that. 6 is going to be like VC w the neon and bright sunny very similar to V but just the SoFL feels and such. Of course GTA has been social satire since VC. Great game V is even if just the SP version I use. I'm pretty sure 6 is going to be an online cloud focused game which I have no interest in.

Here's an example of the alive open world of gtaV as I've sort of switched to it after 77 burnout. I need to start a new game though since I'm post campaign save.

So yeah I was cruising around and noticed a cop standing near the hwy and wondered what he was doing so I backed up and took a look and he was using a radar gun on passing hwy traffic. Totally cool, so the world has a much stronger feeling that it exists without you around. whereas 77 the npcs can all be seen walking in circles around streets if you go back and up a bit, it's very bad imo but the limits of your cpu for the high res npcs kind of demand it. Same w cars, the infamous 2d cars in the distance, just a basket case of a game really.

And V uses chromatic aberration to a master class to give the illusion photorealism. I think instead of it being mostly noticeable arond the edges of the screen like in 77 in enclosed spaces, V does it over the whole screen more and likely less at the edges to not be so noticeable. They also use other filters like grain and such to give a really good look, seems like they actually studied the environment of Socal unlike cpdr. Really well done by RS in V.

I once had a lot of mods for V but it's buggy so disabled a few like better chases and such and just have menyoo trainer which is like the rampage trainer for RDR2 it's like 100 mods in one, works well.

Also a good open world game is fun to just move around in without anything to do but explore and such. The pleasure of driving the cars and bikes in GTA5 is great, with the menyoo trainer you can load in anything and add some if you like but it's better to just take what's in there including the online mp vehicles there are a ton of them no need for add on mods. 77 there aren't too many genuinley awesome cars in there and 77 is much easier to mod than GTA5 so I have about a dozen add on cars, but the world isn't as much of a pleasure to move around in, it's hard to explain really other than it just isn't as alive as GTA5's world.

In GTA5 people walk their dogs, they jog, they ride offroad vehicles, boats, etc It just has so many NPC actions compared to the canned and repeated stale ones of 77. Whole parts of 77's map are largely deserted which makes little sense in a megacity with megabuildings and so much infrastructure, rocky ridge would NOT be abandoned, plenty of people commute to city centers to not have to live in them, common thing. The NPC polys of gta games are lower than 77's of course but it's a nice tradeoff for the overall game to have more and feel more alive.

So yeah mostly moved off of playing 77 and doing other games but mainly GTA5 open world post campaign and also doing replays of the missions here and there. 1.52 is about 98gb installed from 2020's perico heist update so it's got all the online mp stuff in there that I don't use mostly. I can load in perico with a mod but it's janky tbh but can get the cars from that expansion with a trainer. I just find there's so much in the game already that the MP online stuff is negligable. I will likely install 141 from 18or19 or even earlier to save about 30gb install size but less online mp assets included. 30gb is half a dozen or more small indy games or a couple older medium sized games or one major release from the last few years, rather have that then some cars and some perico island I can't use etc

I can't overstate how much of a quality jump I feel when going from the 77 open world to the GTAV open world, it's amazing. 77 would have been better using a yakuza sized smaller levels like they do with Kamurocho and the other smaller open levels. The detail and fine tuning and such in the classic 0-6 yakuza games is amazing. And with the newer versions like kiwami 2, 6 kamurocho with the lights at night is very atmospheric which is what 77 was going for in the kabuki district and parts of japantown, very blade runner neon misty type of feel which works better in a yakuza kamurocho sized level of maybe 6-8 street grid.

A world as big as 77 really needed the GTAV treatment where there is a TON to do, multiple collectibles with stories to them once you find them like spaceship parts, the noir letters murder mystery, not sure about sub parts and I'm sure I've missed others. The number of car models in V is amazing, there's really no need to add on cars there they have so many models to choose from and if you grab an online content loader you get all the other hundreds of models added in the MP updates over the years. 77 in contrast has nowhere near as many models and also they are bland mostly. There are only about 4 bike models also, V has a dozen and many more with the MP updates AND you see NPCs riding bikes, which is rare in 77 after 2.0. They had NO npcs riding bikes pre-2.0.

Just the overall feel and hand crafted feel to V is astounding. 77 also is mostly handcrafted but it's much more bland and of course the mostly empty megacity is very weird. Go to a mega fwy and it's almost empty in the middle of this megacity. Other than more photo realistic graphics, which is debatable in situations, this is a huge step down in open world games. And V is more artistic which is a better way to go for longevity, 77 just tries to be as photo realistic as possible at the expense of artistic stylizing, making it to be a game that will be very dated in 10 years. V came out on PC 9 years ago.

Just tried a few more mods in 77 which is almost the only reason I go back so done with it. As I said the graphics, style and for me the neon noir blade runner vibe in certain places like kabuki and japantown are the good points about open world aspect. The writing is edgy but not too logical, story makes little sense it's really a credo on the hermetic-kabbalistic transhumanist dream and the rest of the jewmasontranny cults ideas they want to disseminate to the gamer community. CPDR is almost totally tranny devs easy to see.

And a secret about this game is that like in all public people they're secret trannies part of this satanic cult bound for hell. What I mean is that even if you play the "vanilla" body of either transfemv or transmanv they're trannies. This is easy to see if you just have a tube dress or bodysuit on FemV and notice the huge shoulders, like muscle implant sized shoulders. It's not the absolutes it's the ratio and unless you wear a tight body clothing it would be hard to notice the hip to shoulder ratio that is definitely of the ladyboy drag queen. There are body mods like lush, big booty and such but that's the same scam, make the butt-thighs larger to hide the wrong ratio of the tranny vanilla body.

I've not looked at the transmanV since I don't play as a transmanv character but that's typified by the modern trannyhookerwood "hunk" invention of cartoon body blown up beachball trannyman. Likely many of them have muscle implants especially shoulders so deltoids and biceps are the most common. You can lookup Justin Jedlica to see an even more cartoon version of what they can do and have done for a LONG time. Christian Bale in American Psycho has muscle implants easy to see. It's the ratio not the absolute they play with. When they get older and can't take the mega testoserone and HGH for health reasons it comes out. Clintina eastwoods very odd body nowadays shows this, spielberg has this type of body now, etc I'm pretty sure the Wahlberg sisters are a good example of this roided out biofemale, drugs, testosterone, hgh, gym rat, implants, surgeries, voice mod, some use shoe lifts like Cruise, Stallone, Johnson etc

So yeah CPDURTARDS aren't your friend, of course neither is justar with it's criminal simulator games either. RDR could have easily been about the drama of a GOOD guy sheriff fighting criminals, not criminals doing crimes and such. The jewmasontranny megacorps are scum so try to spend as little time and money on them as possible. They've got my time since I grew up w videogames it's a long hobby, but at least not much money.

I've actually tried to mention this at nexus mods on posts but I always get a warning by those **** nexisnotsees about being "discriminatory" and such. They're freaking nazi scum at nexus mods and were promoted by their fellow jewmasontranny media into a near monopoly, that's how scum work.

Sick antichristian stuff is fine but any mention about the nasty trannyhookers and you're banned or warned which I've been both there. It's easy to just spoof an IP to grab another account but still, these scum at Nexus mods are militant trannyhookers. It's a JUK based site btw, major jewmasontranny cursed island w their jewmasontranny empire starting in the 1600's. 1688 "glorious revolution" financed by sephardicks from amsterdam, cromwell was either a jew or took their money and William of Orange WAS financed by them to murder an English Catholic King, only time an English king was murdered, at least officially speaking. THEN in 1694 Willy paid them back by enslaving england with the Bank of England and that's when the raping pillaging dope inc jewmasontranny "british" empire started. Toilet bowel sewer.

So yeah the default vanilla bodies are transgenders in cyberpunk 2077. It's just another trannyhookerwood studio and game.

Coming back to this the Long Dark and it's survival mode is a pretty interesting open world, it's dead mostly but does have good ambiance and is best for a low energy game at night to relax to mostly. Especially if you play at the easy difficulty you don't have to worry about wolves and such. Then add in a couple trainers to block out the need to find food or carry it, no sprains, never cold and such and it's really a nice relaxation and mystery game with a huge open world. The walking and auto walking with just the weather, wind and wolves and other nature sounds is soothing and such.

If you want action the story mode is for that in this game or simply a different game. But yeah it's def a slow game which can be a grind but can also be just for relaxing in a snowscape mostly. They really needed to have exploration only mode, no survival needed, like a mario mode i.e. no need to eat, sleep etc infinite lantern or flashlight for night treks, infinite stamina for running on the longer emptier parts of these regional maps, always show whole map with your location and heading etc

I never get why devs don't have different simple modes to their games to appeal to a larger audience not just those into a niche like grindy survival micromanaging. I mean they have difficulty when you start the mode, green horn is the easiest but it's still limited and a slog, they need in game cheats for specific types of exploration only modes. No weight management would be nice, never cold, inf stamina for running, etc for just an ambiance game to see what's over the next corner or bend. Fall asleep relax game mode.

I've played TLD on and off since it came out I think in 2017 or so. Remember playing it that december. I'm not sure when the story mode came out though and I played the first 2 then a bit of the third but abandoned it at some point to just come back lately when they added a couple of episodes of the very lite Tales from the Far Frontier survival mode DLC. Finished Wintermute episodes 3-4 and 5 is supposed to come out later this year but don't hold your breath w this devs history.

TFTFF is I think 6 parts and we're 2-3 into it. 3 new zones, a lite story about fixing transmitters and having a short wave to find story and loot stuff etc I wasn't able to stay with it it's so grindy, found the 3 zones and the first transmitter to fix but the survival mode has no map other than what you make with charcoal and little clue to where the next transmitter to fix is other than the regions which take a lot of time to get to and to explore for a transmitter to fix. So unless you look up online exactly where the transmitters are you have to wander around the region which quickly leads you off onto other stuff and away from the lite story there.

TLD is just a good exploration and mystery ambiance game with a huge open world of regions-zones which are gatekept with very slow walking-running speeds and various needs like food, rest, stamina, inventory weight management, locked gates and such you have to find a tool to open or go around etc You are never shown where your char is on the map in survival mode and the map is just the world you're in so you have to grab charcoal from fires and sketch around you to have a detailed region map.

And there is no compass in game or at all, which is ridiculous in a survival game. The places you stumble upon and loot are going to have some sort of compass somewhere, handheld. But nope not in this game so it's really just you have to remember the landscape and such to find your way. I've also read that the sun course isn't accurate to east-west for a visual compass, I'll have to confirm that myself though. You really don't see the sun much most of the time but I could wait till sunset and see where the colors are the compare to known points on the world map.

For TLD if you just want a story with some survival then the wintermute is enough, likely what most people will be fine with. I'm not sure you get the other regions outside of those the story takes place in but if you're not into the grind of survival outside of a story setting it's fine.

If you want all the regions besides the 3 new ones from TFTFT you're still getting a huge set of maps for a pure survival grind and general exploration.

Most people won't like this much and are better off just sticking to the wintermute story mode which gives you clear directions and shows you on the maps and what to do where to go has cinematics and context. With a sale you can usually get all of it for the same 20$ or so definitely recommended there.

If you just bought survival it's 20$, Wintermute is likely not sold separately and is 34$ including survival which isn't worth that for story mode average players. Wait for a sale where wintermute-survival is about 20$ total. Right now on steam it's 50% off so 17.50 for wintermute story mode and the survival mode, that's all you need really.

Tales From the Far Frontier is a different lite story dlc with 3 new regions so far. It's not worth more money at all. It's just more empty maps and grind for the survival junkies who wanted more maps and grind with a bit more of a story to it. I wouldn't bother with it for most people. Really with the years long delay for wintermute TFTFT should be free for anyone, not some paid dlc at 20$.
