    Hi All

I'm trying out some games on my shiny new Acer Aspire One 150, XP edition.

When trying to load Quake 3, which I see otehr people are happily playing out there, I'm getting the following error:

'GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL susbsystem'

Does anyone else have this issue?
Any ideas on how to update OpenGl, or if there are drivers that will rectify this issue anywhere?

    Cheers

I get the error when i run Wolfenstein Enemy Territory on a resolution higher than 800x600 because the aspire one cant support it, try changing the games config file to a lower res like 800x600 then try running the game, u can find the config file in the game's folder believe the sub folder is called "main" and in that thier should be a .cfg file open with note pad look for something with rez

    Ranjit, you're a genius.

Your suggestion fixed my problem with both Quake and Wolfenstein.

For those also getting the same error, either set the resolution low on your PC before copying the games to your Acer Aspire, or if they're already installed, follow the below.

    1. Look for the config files in the system or main directory:

    Wolfenstein: Return to castle wolfenstein/Main/Wolfconfig
    Quake 3: Quake III Arena/Baseq3/q3config

    2. Open either file with wordpad or a text editor.
    3. Search for the following:

    r_mode "X"

The higher number in here the higher the resolution is set to.

    4. Change this to 1:

    r_mode "1"

And voila! The game will now run perfectly, leaving you to go in and change the resolution through the menu.

Again, many thanks Ranjit for pointing me in that direction, I'm happy to have those games running, they both run flawlessly and look really great.
