I seen lot of people on this forum changed original WiFi adapter and installed Dell, Broadcom etc. Why?? What's not right with original miniPCI card??

I don't know about everyone else, but I changed mine to an intel wireless n card so that I would get a faster connection.

If I get a chance, I'll change mine to an Intel adapter for better compatibility and drivers. My other laptop have Intel's A/G/N and Ubuntu detects it right away.

Plus, I've noticed that my Athros is having troubles with throughput after a while of use. I tried to fix it by following an advice here (turn off power save) and it still does it from time to time.

I am using XP see no issues here with the OEM Wifi.
I do wonder if there are cooler cards out though.

Coz the original card doesn't work with Mac OS X. A Broadcom-based one, on the contrary, is PnP with Mac OS X (it sees it as an Airport card).

I see now. OK - is there any list of recommended miniPCI WiFi cards which works with every system (Linux, XP, MacOS)??

I know that Dell DW1390 and DW1490 work with Mac OS X and I can't see why they wouldn't work with Linux and XP.

All cards with a Broadcom BCM94311MCG chipset should work too, and probably a lot of (all?) Broadcom-based ones, regardless of their specific chipset.
