    Hi everyone,
I haven't yet purchased an aspire one yet because the hdd version is out of stock everywhere in San Jose.
I have been reading the fourms for a while, and I have a question about which apple updates are safe and which aren't. Could someone with a functional aspire one please make a list of all the updates that they performed?
    Thanks in advance.

    what do you mean updates
it depends on the version used, etc etc
you cant use system version upgrades though

plus all updates from apple are "safe"

Are the apple security updates safe? How about the 10.5.5 update?
    Thanks for replying.

will need a reinstall with iatkos
or if you use kalyway, they release combo updates which wor in the same way as apples updates

I have successfully run all the updates except 10.5.5 on mine. 10.5.5 created a kernel panic and required a reinstall. The new install now has all the updates except 10.5.5. This is with iATKOS.

BTW - Have you tried Micro Center in Santa Clara? I was there yesterday (Saturday the 20th) and they said they had gotten over 200 of the HD versions. Did they sell them all already?

I haven't tried Micro Center yet. I am currently waiting for amazon.com because they don't charge a sales tax. I'll try micro center in the next few weeks if I'm not too busy.

Have any of you tried the update via the guide here? http://netkas.org/?p=50 I've read on insanelymac.com that it has worked for a lot of people. If I get time, I'll try it tomorrow.

i ran it and it did not work properly. i kept a backup of the extensions folder adn copied back all extenstions and the mach_kernel (9.4.0) and am now able to boot 10.5.5 into safe mode. when booting regularly the screens stays black and i only get a mouse pointer. The machine does startup as i hear XRG fire up after a min or 2 but i cannot use it due to theblack screen. I have my one at work with me today, so i can dig deeper into this issue.
