Erm, I had to remove the screw holes for the SSD, and the raised plastic it sat on, most people have done the same.

Can someone test the new bios from the Acer FTP to see if this one make the Wifi card work under OSX?

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/a ... _110/bios/

It has been reported on a french forum (blogeee.net) that this update boost significantly the speed of the SSD (writingg up to 15MB/s and reading up to 40MB/s on windows), maybe it can also makes the wifi card usable on OSX :)

So I have assembled the AA1 and successfully installed 1GB DDR2 533Mhz ram module and confirmed in the BIOS.
Now I am going to try the BIOS update and check for performance improvements and/or WIFI support in Mac OSX.

BTW, anyone knows how to fix the USB support in Kalyway's distribution? Or point me to a thread? Thanks.

LOL. So I tried to disassemble an old Sony TX1 I had at my firm and came up with a 1.8'' Toshiba HDD model MK6006GAH, but the model supporting ZIF connector is the MK6008GAH. To bad for me... or do you have any suggestions? Are there any adapters?

Errr... I am pretty sure it is IDE, with a strange cable connected that comes from the Sony TX1 laptop and has a connection for the CDROM as well. Uploaded a PIC for you to see (sorry about the iPhone's poor macro photography capacity).

I have not been able to find a way to flash the BIOS, and I am in computing for more than 15 years now (shame on me again).

 First method: floppy disk (USB FDD). Oh, there is not enough space for both flashit.exe and the bios file. Hum, ok.

 Second method: Hiren's Boot CD 9.3 (USB CDROM). Ok, boots, but wait, what CD driver should I chose to load BootCD files? Non of them work (for those not familiar with Hiren's Boot CD, it is a Utilities CD that boots from itself and presents us with more than 100 utilities from disk partition tools to dos). So no luck with Hiren's Boot CD either.

 Third method: bootable usb flash disk. Now that sounded promising, but... I do not have a usb flash disk that boots (tryed HP utility, various methods from bootdisk.com, nothing!) Have to get myself a 256MB flash usb disk (it seems the problem is with it's size, trid with a 512MB flash disk and 1GB, none of them worked).

 Fourth and on-going method: installing Windows XP and hoping to get a access to a fat32 disk at dos so I can store the bios flash file and flash it!

    Stay tuned! :D

I'm installing now, and I have flashed the BIOS already. Will get some benchmarks after. Can anyone recommend anything for OS X?
I'm hoping the WLAN card will now work, as in the readme, Atheros WLAN Card is supported.

    Will report back tomorrow.

The one from the bios thread, ill get the link
    http://www.gamebeat.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1057
    Quick and easy tutorial.
Then unzip the bios files, place them on the root of the memory stick
Once it loads DOS, type 3114.bat and press enter
    Easy as pie..

Shame on me. The problem I had was that I didn't start the application with administrator rights...

Flashed it now and noticed that the SSD speed seems to be almost the same, slow. On Windows, that is.

Will install MSI Wind's Leopard distribution and give a try.

Twice, yes twice I have made the error of not making the partition right, I simply erased and formmatted the driv in OS X journaled format, and thought that would work. But, you need to erase, then click the drive and click partitions and make it a GUID partition.
    Just to everyone knows...
Without this, I was getitng a HFS+ error on boot. Although, I could somehow boot from DVD sometimes.
    LOL

Still no one tested the wifi card with the new bios on OSX? It would be wonderful (better than the Wind which have a chipset that's not going to be supported by OSX), and this criteria is decisive for my choice ;)

    Thanks!

All I can say is that WiFi is not supported OTB, nor with previous methods posted arround here. I am testing with the Atheros 5006 custom drivers from Insanelymac.com. As soon as I get something i'll post.
I am also awating for my HDD from Toshiba to replace the SDD.

UPDATE: tested with Kalyway's and MSIWind's Leopard patched distributions.

    Hi,
There were a few posts very early on mentioning about getting the SDHC slots working.
Any help on that would be great.

    Thanks!
