I partitioned 40 GB from the HD to a new volume to store historical data. I have a good 10 GB on the new volume which is unused. Is there a way to shrink the 10 GB from the new volume and return it to the "C" drive? Thanks for any help.

Assuming you're running Windows, try Paragon Partition Manager, it can resize/move partitions.
