    Re: password

You have to lock it manually with Fn-F10

Isn't this in the BIOS settings? I was in there the other day, and noticed a section on passwords when starting the device etc.

Take a look, it might help?

Don't take it back! XP Home is not secure. EVEN if you password protect the login, anyone can take your hard drive out with a bit of work and hook it up as a secondary drive in another system. They will have total access to everything.
There's a couple ways to secure the computer, get Windows XP Pro to run on it and enable encryption. The higher versions of Vista have it too. OR you can get yourself a third party encryption program, 'SecureDoc' at http://www.winmagic.com/solutions/securedoc.html. A Lawyer I know uses and trusts it.

Now that you know Windows is insecure (hehehe stop laughing!) Create a True Crypt encrypted file. Go here and figure it out! http://www.truecrypt.org/.

It's linux friendly and open source.

btw, I just posted about an online open source Notebook tracking program. You may want to check it out: http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2339.
