Have tried a search but basically my problem is that on start up it's coming up with a blue box with 'Harddisk Security' and underneath 'Primary Master WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCT Lock'. I press enter and it wants a password. I don't know this. I've got a feeling someone in the shop has been on this before me as when I took it out of the box there was fingerprints on.

I've tried F2 & F12 but this blue box just comes up.

Thought I'd ask if there's a way around this before I take it back. I don't mind the fact the shop assistant may have opened the box to show someone but on the other hand it could have been returned due to this and I've ended up with it!
    Thanks

Send it back and demand a new replacement. The hard disk password can only be recovered and reset by the disk manufacturer or their service agents.

Just exchanged it no problem-definately been used before as the packaging was all intact with seals etc. Start again now!
    Thanks for your response.
