    Hi,
Just got my AcerOne - Thanks to your site, I've managed to get VLC and Picasa onto my machine.

I'm looking for a simple text editor that can also encrypt itself.
    Similar to_
    http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Other/fSekrit/

The benefits of such a program are that as it's just a text file, it can hold and encrypt
all sorts of data, passwords, router info etc etc

    Regards.....Des Speed

I do not know of exactly such a program for linux, but I see the uses for an usb stick. I shall see if google can produce something...

Can it not run under wine ?

For encryption purposes I myself currently use truecrypt on the AAO. That program makes a "container", and everything in the container is encrypted. Notes, programs - whatever. Unfortunately it is not self-contained like fSekrit.

    Hi,
Thanks for your interest, When I get time, (don't ever drive a bus for a living, work 12-13 hours a day, get home, fall asleep, do it all again the next day !) I shall attempt to run the program under WINE.
(Gotta get WINE onto my AAO yet !?)

    Regards..... Des Speed.....

    Hi,

The self encrypting Windows program, 'fSekrit' does run under WINE.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Some much to learn, so little time !

    Regards... Des Speed.....

How would I install Truecrypt in Linpus? I did try downloading the OpenSuse version from their site but got nowhere with it. I have it on my Linux Mint Desktop and think it would be very useful on my AAO.

Thanks Des Speed for the link. I have been looking for something like that for quite a while and it is especially good that it runs so well under Wine.

You can either compile it yourself:
    http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/07/inst ... e-one.html

Or rip the executable from the .deb (so not the .rpm). Don't try to install the deb - just unpack the contents.

I dont like using Text Editors .
    Editors cant link objects .

    I prefer SpreadSheets .
    They have NO limits .
One can easily create a HLL language .
    or ..
no faster way to create a low level , G.U.I.
in place assembler/dis-asembler , than with
    Linpus , OpenOffice spreadsheets ..

or i could create an large communication chain , as
if i were writting ordinary "letters" , and i could link it so well
Linpus could "understand" the logic .

So far , no PC has been able to do that , thus the O.S. is
    "in the dark" ,
it only knows there is some English langauge text files ...

    In the 70's "1-2-3" fit in 214K of DOS 640 ..
A man showed how to do ALL work in
    Lotus spreadsheet .
Bloated spreadsheets to include "presentations" .

No one ever created anything with P' .
No human has ever made an honest dollar w/ P'

The Limits are in humans inability to picture and then create ...
