if they are going to run in the AAO, their timings are going to be limited to 533MHz memory in any case
unless you have a spare SODIMM lying around unused, I definitely wouldnt risk buying one for no benefit.

PC2-6400 will probably work. AFAIK, that's what Dell ship in the Inspiron Mini 9.

No advantage in buying anything faster than PC2-4200 for the current crop of Atom-based netbooks, apart from the fact that no-one seems to sell this speed anymore and PC2-6400 is the same price as PC2-5300 nowadays (if not cheaper).

All I can add is that the service manual from Acer (linked on the front page http://www.aspireoneuser.com/downloads/ under "eBooks") show the installed RAM as PC2-5300. I thought at first that -4200 would work, now I'm going for -5300, and the price is about the same.

PC2-4200 isn't sold where I live anymore, so PC2-5300 was my only option.

PC2-6400 seemed to have more incompatibility with the AspireOne, and since the RAM only runs at 533Mhz, there is no point in buying 800Mhz RAM. Plus, it's slightly more expensive. Which is a problem for a cheap guy like me.
