    Hi,
I used to work with Pidgin 2.5.1 but now I received a message thtat my client is too old. iI had the same problem on my other windows machine and an upgrade to 2.5.5 solved the problem.

Here at the linux side, I don't want to try tarballs since the lib has a lot of dependencies which I can disolve properly with my linux knowledge. Therefore I'm looking for a fc8-compliant rpm package oder a yum repository source für pidgin 2.5.5 and the lib. It seems it is to early for sources somewhere else but maybe some specialist is so kind to build an rpm for the community.

    Thanks in advance!

I´ve tried to compile the tarball but configure aborts with missing gtk development headers which I couldn´t found anywhere.

As a compromise, I´ve installed the jabber client gajim und connected through a jabber server offering icq transports. It´s a compromise because I don´t want to use necessarily a third party to connect.

Today I´ve learnt that there is another distro called Kuki Linux (http://kuki.me/) that is based on the newest Ubuntu (Intrepid Ibex) and will be released soon as version 3.0. It should be able to boot within 11 sec (according to the authors) which is comparable to Linpus Lite but provides better rpm service since the base is newer.

What version of licq do you use and from what source? I thought you have to change to pidgin 2.5.5 since ICQ changed its protocol. Fine to hear it works though!

Seems like Licq is not affected by the change of protocol. I don't remenber which version I installed but it was the same that is available via pirut.
