Is there any way to update to VLC 0.9.2, the newest version?

    Cheers,

yeah, i got these dependency probs too... it was enough to make me consider switching to win for a week or two... but i found this extra instruction in one of the posts recently that cleared it up. youve got to updaqte fedora before installing vlc i.e.

    sudo yum update fedora-release
    sudo rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
    sudo yum install vlc

the update of fedora has made other installs go much smoother...

    Thanks for the how to!

I only just got my One today, and I gotta admit, I'm starting to wish I'd waited until I could find a Windows version - Linux scares the crap out of me!

I believe that you need to uninstall libpurple, then install Pidgin, however this WILL break Acer's own Mail and Messenger programs, just to warn you:
    Code:
    sudo yum -y remove libpurple
    sudo yum -y install pidgin

He probably said Konqueror - a kde-based browser.

I however see no reason why it would work with that if it does not with firefox... nor what it has to do with playing videos in VLC ;)

    Hello.

I think I installed VLC for Fedora 6 by accident. I was looking into how to install VLC and I came across a post on here saying that linpus lite was based on Fedora 6 and a link to the VLC fedora 6 download. I downloaded it, it didn't install properly because of dependency errors. Anyway I found how to fix that by updating Fedora from the terminal. I tried to download VLC for Fedora 8 but it said there was a conflict because VLC for fedora 6 was on the system.

Not finding out how to uninstall or remove it I just typed yum install VLC and the VLC installed is version 0.8.6i. Is this fedora 6 VLC player?

Everything seems to work fine though. I've tried a divx movie and a iplayer stream and its great, nice and smooth.

Another question: I read that you need to uninstall mplayer before installing VLC. I rushed into installation and forgot, but everything seems to be working fine. Another thing, do live updates still work with vlc installed?

    Thanks.

I tried to re-install and it said it was already installed I'm confused
