Another way: paste in gedit, select all the text, then type SHIFT-TAB. It will indent everything to the left.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

    Perfect.

I tried the UNR 1.01 image for a week or two, but couldn't get everything working. I tried the lpia intrepid port, then unsuccessfully tried installing hardy, and finally ended up installing intrepid.

Now everything pretty much works to my satisfaction with your kernel. Thanks!

Yes Thinkey, it's normal that the wifi LED doesn't work with this kernel, as it uses the Atheros driver which doesn't support the LED. It doesn't bother me as much as the non functional wifi kill switch.

What I would like to know is how to kill wifi. It's never dead even though I disable wifi with NetworkManager. I know because my Aspire One generates interference in my desktop PC speakers when I put it on my desk.

Is there a sure way to know if wifi is active, and how could I kill wifi?

Make sure you are not blacklisting the ath_hal module for the wireless, you may want to blacklist the ath_pci module instead. For the mic try adjusting the volume in the mixer controls. And the lights will not work with the wireless drivers built into the kernel.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

i am not sure if this is a bug or it is just the delay in showing the OSD in this new kernel version. The button, depressed, i was only getting the decrase shown on OSD, where as when trying to increase the brightness button depressed, nothing show up in the screen. The screen does get brighten up, the button(FN+backlite) indeed working.

Could this be a bug or it is some minor adjustment.

    Thanks.

Thanks a ton, after a long time of waiting, I installed an ubuntu instead of linpus yesterday.

It's an Xubuntu 8.04, the rc7 of dec 5 works very well. It takes only a few more seconds to boot up than that on linpus.

Thank you again for your great work.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

Been trying this kernel with Ubuntu 8.10 and it runs great. But as I have a Dell 1390 Wireless card for OS X there is no wifi in Ubuntu with this kernel.

How would I go about getting this kernel to work with a Dell 1390 Wireless card instead of the standard Atheros card?

Appreciate all your work Sickboy ;)

So these headers are for 8.10 and Xubuntu, right? Do they work with the UNR apps? I really like ume-launcher, maximus, the go-home applet and the desktop switcher. Can I get all that stuff with Xubuntu?

I am running netbook remix (installed on top of a vanilla Ubuntu Desktop install) with this kernel and it works beautifully.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

    Hi Guys,

I've installed the deb file (no hibernate version) fine, it boots fast, wifi, SD slots etc work fine.

I cannot get my Huawei E220 working. it shows up ok in `lsusb` but my T-Mobile configured connection does not work.

Does this kernel version support the 3g stick?

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

Not much of a kernel guy but a couple questions.

When installing the headers the package manager said I had a failed dependency in "libc6" but when I did an "apt-get install libc6" it said I had the latest libc6.

I installed the kernel regardless and it seems to work well with Ubuntu 8.04 here.

Just curious on one other thing also. Is this kernel compiled with Intel Atom optimizations? Wasn't sure. Sounds like the UNR (the installable img download) does this and it supposedly helps with performance and with power savings with the Atom.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

Another quick question. Was trying to use TrueCrypt to keep some data encrypted on my AA1.

TrueCrypt generates the following error when trying to mount an encrypted file.

/proc/misc: No entry for device-mapper found. Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?

Not sure if this is something that can be added to your kernel, or if it is something that would cause issues for others.

Re: UPDATED-2.6.28-rc7 Kernel Image and Headers. 100% Working

I had to do the same thing as you hillsoft and install the kernel image without the headers due to the libc thing. I'm running A150 160g HD 1G ram on the Ubuntu Netbook Remix image which uses the 2.6.24-19-lpia kernel on Hardy. Here's my findings so far with bootchart and powertop (lowest screen brightness, wifi enabled, ath5k driver, all powertop suggestions implemented):

    Lpia kernel:
    Boot time: 25s
    powertop: 10.1w

    Sickboy kernel (UNR Image/Hardy):
    Boot time: 15s
    powertop: 10.1w

    -----

    Intrepid Ibex kernel 2.26.27-9-generic
    Boot time: 37s
powertop: no acpi information given. (Powertop gives this when plugged in to AC, oops :D)

    Sickboy Kernel (Intrepid)
    Boot time: 19s
    powertop: 9.4w

    eeepc-lean kernel (Intrepid)
    Pending install

    riot,

When do you consider boottime finished? I have been measuring up to when I have a clickable netbook launcher and connected wifi on my intrepid+2.6.28rc7 install and get 45 seconds.
