Is there a way to boost the sound output (both speaker & earphones) on the Aspire One? I love it excpet for the low volume.

well there is an option you can follow.... if you use windows as oerating system...

goolgle around for software called SRS Audio Sandbox on sites like 4shared or mediafire. you will likely have better sound clarity and somewhat volume boost as well.

Would this help with the sort of tinny/static quality on the 8.9 aspire one? My audio has always been crappy which I knew going in but was hoping by now there might be a fix?

Excellent advice. Works with WIndows 7 and really helps improve the sound.

I have realtek hd audio manager installed on top of the system sound manager, and get pounding bass, and great treble on ear buds! Just crank the system sound levels, and use the eq on the realtek to set your prefs. using windows media player I also set the eq and only run the volume at about 30 percent. And I like loud music! Maybe the problem some people are having is not using high quality ear buds or head sets. Try your friends brands of ear piece out to see what works best for you.
Running xp sp3 home edition on aa0 110.

If you're serious about the sound, you really need to think about an external DAC and some decent earphones. Try a Firestone Audio Fireye II, and some Grado SR60's, together with Foobar 2000 software. I think you'll be amazed at just how good music from your Acer One can sound. Of course, it's not the cheapest route to take!
