I have an acer timeline 4810TZ and it would not turn on anymore without plugging in the power adapter. A few days before this happened, i noticed some sudden freezing during some youtube(all the indicator lights would halt and nothing moved ranging from 10 seconds to 30 seconds). My battery is detected when I go into windows though charged at 100%. I suspect a bad capacitor but I could be wrong. I tried the support but those guys are idiots...at least the 2nd one was.

    The acer support replies with:
If the computer is running fine with the AC adapter alone, the issue might be related to the battery.

We will have to perform a power drain now. This will remove any static electricity stored in the components in motherboard that may cause the issue. The static electricity is formed due to long usage of the computer. Performing a power drain resolves all the issues caused by the static.

    1. Remove all external devices and disconnect AC adapter power cable from the system if applicable.
    2. Remove the battery from the system.
    3. Hold down the power button continuously for at least 5 seconds. Do not release the power button during this process. (You will not see anything happen)
    4. Insert the battery back to the system. Also, connect the AC adapter to the system.
    5. Power the system on.

If the issue persists, please purchase a new battery for your computer.

That did not work out so here comes the next reply from them:
Please perform a battery re-calibration using the instructions provided below:
    1. Connect your notebook to AC power and let the battery charge completely.

    2. Disconnect the AC power and restart your notebook.

    3. Completely discharge the battery.

    4. After the battery is completely drained, reconnect your notebook to AC power.

    5. Charge the battery completely until the battery status indicator turns blue.

In order to resolve the system freeze issue you can contact our Pay for support team. I know at times it is easier to have someone actually walk you through it giving you a tutorial, along with actually doing the trouble shooting through a Remote Tool if possible, would you like to know more about that?

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DISCHARGE MY BATTERY WHEN I CAN'T EVEN POWER ON MY LAPTOP WITHOUT THE AC ADAPTER PLUGGED IN???

Last time you charged the battery, how long did it take? I'd be suggesting at least trying a new battery or borrowing one from a friend.
