Just been looking at expansys site and the 8gig version is only 10GBP cheaper than the 80 GIG! This seem a bit silly to me who in their right mind is going to go for 10x less storage for only 10 quid?

I'm thinking of it. I don't want a moving HDD, they are slower, noisier, use more power and are more fragile. I don't need much space on this and since I have a 16GB SDHC card, 24GB in total will be entirely adequate.

The only problem is that I want 1GB RAM and it appears that the RAM may be soldered in - drat.

You're right, I have checked about and it appears that the 512MB is soldered but that there is a SO-DIMM socket so I need not have worried. I also have two 512MG DIMMs that I recently removed from a MacBook so I hope they fit and I shan't have to buy another (not that they're expensive).

ive a 2gb sodimm stick, so I'll be putting that in mine.
Sounds like the same problem as the eeepc had with the limation of 1gb, but with a hack of the kernel of linux allowed to see the rest of the ram in the system.

Thought you would think the windows xp version shouldn't have any problem seeing more than 1 or 1.5gb.

I will have find out details on the chipset used by intel, might give more clues...

I was one of the lucky ones who ordered it from play.com when the price was still £199.99. Hoping they honour that price, but there's still a whole week to wait...
