    OK, that's good, you have a file:
    /etc/sane.d/epson.conf
    I'd copy this (to make a backup)
    $ cd /etc/sane.d/
    $ sudo cp epson.conf epson.conf.bak
    and then edit it like in my previous post.
    Let us know how it goes :)

    Hi mischiefbec, I'm having a similar problem using my AAO with Linpus Lite printing with my Epson CX8400. If you succeed in getting your Epson printer printing and scanning, could you please post the steps required to get it to work on this site.
    Thanks!

    No worries... I'll certainly try! At the moment it's looking completely impossible though!

    The scanner thing didn't work... still get the same error message when I open the scanner software. I retraced my steps with the printer thing... printed another test page but can't seem to get anything more. It is set as the default printer and things go into the print queue from open office but they just sit there and I get no life from the printer. I was at it till 12:30 last night reading various peoples opinions and idea's and I still seem to be no closer! Grrr... it's so irritating!

    If you go to the CUPS management interface (in a browser, http://127.0.0.1:631), and click on 'jobs', what shows up? Any error messages?

    Right I'm getting the hang of this linux malarky. I've installed another version of the epson iscan program, at first I couldn't find it but remembering a bit of something that Duncan told me yesterday i used the command sudo iscan and suddenly it popped up... genius!

    Only problem is I don't seem to have it on either the menu when you right click on the desktop or the normal acer menu's... it there any way I can add a shortcut here?

    Also what exactly does sudo mean?? Could it be worth one of the fantastic experienced members of this forum putting together a bit of a dictionary for us newbies so we've got a bit of a clue what you are talking about!

    Only thing now is my printer... I've noticed that the writing seems to have disappeared in the printer menu that was there yesterday... is it something like pipslite? Now I can't get it to work and when I try to reinstall it tells me it's already installed... darn!

    Please help and I can use my AAO happily for at least a few minutes!!! He He.

    xxx

    See this thread http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6296

    To edit right click menu.
    Go Settings>>Menu Editor
    Pick a position in list then click Add Entry button.
    Type = Launcher
    Name = Iscan
    Command = sudo iscan (if it doesn't require sudo don't type sudo)
    Icon = click button and choose one.

    Click on OK button
    Clik on close window icon.
    Choose to save settings on exit.
