Problem with icons!

    I attempted to access the desktop with the tutorial from here...
    viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1525

    but now i have an empty desktop nothing just the bar along the bottom...
    When I attempted to do this action from the tutorial i recieved an error in terminal following with the vanishing of my standard gui icons which I would like back!!

    I have no idea what to do....

    fixed it...
    I know other people have had the same problem so here is how I solved it....

    ALT-F2
    this should bring up the run program box...
    xfce-settings-show (something like this)
    then the pop up for display settings should appear...
    then go to display settings and tick the top box to allow xfce to manage desktop and.....DONE
