Problem with my "checksum"??

Hi! I have the AA1 with the 8 gig harddrive, which included recovery DVDs rather than a recovery program. I just bought a Samsung external drive, changed the boot order to make it first, slipped the first DVD in, and turned on the computer, but I just get this message:

The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Any ideas on what to do from here??

Just to add, I am running XP on this AA1. Also, shortly after I got it I had to do an entire reinstall using these same disks, and had no problems. I used a friend's external DVD drive at the time, and am wondering if there could be some incompatability with my newer drive.

BTW, my thoughts on Acer: I love my AA1, but I think Acer has some problems. They were making so many versions of this product that they got things mixed up (for instance, my box included a written manual, as well as a separate insert, that told me I had eRecovery when I didn't.) I'm wondering if there was something on these disks that screwed something in the machine up.

Any thoughts on how to get around this problem, or keep it from running the checksum program on boot from the disk? Heidi

Me again! I went to Best Buy, bought am LP external DVD writer and tried it again -- works fine. Must be a problem with either the model or the unit I got on the Samsung.

As Emily Lettela* would say, "never mind."
