Ok, i'm not sure if anyone had this problem before i hope not but if so i need some help.
Its a HDD Acer Aspire One the Blue One, i was on youtube and just surfing and browsing and next thing you know i hear a Loud Sound not from the Video but from the Computer going "ERNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN" for maybe about 30sec i press the Power Button and Turned it off, now that its on It loads in the beginning, I see the Windows Xp LOGO with the loading picture then it goes to a menu stating Options

    Load Windows Xp Regularly

    SafeMode Prompt
    SafeMode Networking
    SafeMode Command

Start Windows Xp from last state <- something like that

Those are all 5 Options and i've tried to Click on all of them but it loads then says Windows cannot load cause of hardware or software ..ect... then it brings me back to DOS with those OPTIONS again..

    any ideas?

The Errrrn sound you heard was probably the internal FAN dying on you.... you could have just done a normal windows shutdown, instead of pushing the power button.... you pushing the button is what's causing the error. Windows did not properly close, therefore chances for data corruption is huge. And the solution is not so straight forward either. From an external CD/DVD drive, run the XP installation CD and choose system recovery by using the recovery console. Now from there, run chkdsk on drive C to fix the errors on the filesystem. If the corruption is not that bad, it should fix your problem. If it's more than that, then you'll need to reinstall windows, or restore using Acer's recovery. You will lose your data unfortunately.

just choose the option to restart windows normally. i've shutdown xp doing a hard reset all the time without data corruption, so i wouldn't worry about it at this point. the hardware issue sounds like a bigger problem though.

I'll assume you overlooked that part of his post. Doing hard resets does not guarantee corruption, but it is extremely possible and happens frequently. Specially if you do the reset while the HDD has activity or in a middle of a writing process. More so on systems with less RAM, wherin the HDD is being used ALOT by the swap file. Doing hard resets when XP has frozen is a lesser risk, since obviously there's no drive activity if everything froze. Cheers.

thanks for reading carefully and correcting the other post, what your saying sounds awfully true and the bad thing is that i don't have a windows CD so thats not a plus on my side to try anything else, so thanks for your advice i'll keep it in mind and try whats possible what you wrote!

lol yeah i did miss the last part of his post. i was lying in bed and half asleep when i posted my reply. my apologies.

if you check out the download section of this forum, you may find an iso file of xp that you can download. if not there then try searching a torrent site. since you have a legit key on your laptop, it wouldn't be illegal to download a copy of xp. then what i would do is download one of those iso files, put it on a usb using bart's pe, and then try to access the recovery console that way. it's a lot of work though.

    good luck with your problem.
