    Hello all,
I have a problem with the installation of OSX... I tried with a lot of versions such as iATKOS v5, Mac Tiger, iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6... , but every time it gives me the same error (Input/Output error)

Here you can see some pics of the error:

I have also tried to make new partition (FAT32), with Partition Magic and Acronis, which after the formating to convert it into HFS+, but it gaves me again the same error....

    Characteristics:
    Acer Aspire One 150
    Model : ZG5
    RAM : 1GB DDR2
    120 GB (SATA)

Do you have some ideas ????

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Once I use iATKOS5i to install OSX, I use these steps to partition my Aspire One before install iATKOS5i.

    - First, resize WindowsXP partition with EASEUS partition resizer. Make it small to make empty area in Aspire One.
    - Second, boot by lightweight USB bootable Linux, for example, DSL, slax, puppylinux, anything can do with fdisk command.
    - Keep MBR partition table, and make new primary partition in the empty area by fdisk. You need to make the partition type as type "af".
    - Save and exit from Linux.
    - Last, Boot from iATKOS5 image. You can see a new partition that can install OSX.

This is my trial steps. This way can boot by Darwin loader, and we can select to boot P2P recovery area, WindowsXP, and OSX.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately nothing changed after following your instructions. OS X keeps on finding absolutely nothing on the harddrive, it seems as though the hard drive is generally unrecognised as the disk utility does not pick up any partition (even NTFS and FAT32). Have you got any other suggestions?

    Thanks in anticipation

Now would you please list your partition lists that you can see with Linux fdisk command ?
I would tell you how to do next with this information.

    thanks in advance.

I see. This seems to be proper.
Then, you boot up iATKOS5i, you could skip Disk utility.
You have no need to prepair partitions via Disk utility at iATKOS5i.
If you threw the step, you can see install target disk in the next stage.

    Now my AAO like this.

    hda1 compaq recovery area (3GB)
    hda2 HPFS/NTFS (60GB)
    hda3 * unknown (type af ) (100GB)

In MBR, Darwin loader 1st step was written, and main darwin loader was installed in the OSX partition.
If this boot up, MBR jumps to the main Darwin loader at first.

Do you have any other ideas?

I have no idea any more.
If I would try for more chance to do, I maybe delete hda3 and hda5, and re-partitioning hda2 with type af.

I have used gparted to create the HFS+ partition. Go to http://www.gparted.org/ look at the Live CD/USB/PXE section and then follow the USB install method.

I boot from a 4GB stick with gparted live installed and change and create the the partitions in one step. It resizes the XP partition, allows you to create new HFS+ partition and format it all in gparted. Make sure when you name the partition, do not include a space in the name. That will screw up everything. When I reboot with iDeneb or iAtkos (I have used both and they work great, iDeneb requires less installation steps and seems to have more than the bare install iAtkos offers) I skip the disk setup routine and it detects the new partition and proceed with the installation.

One question are you using a AAO 110 or 150? I have the 150 with the SATA HD interface. I am not sure if using the 110 with the PATA HD interface would make a difference.

    Good luck.

Please help! Same Problem! (Input Output Error)

    Hi all.

    Can nobody help? :-(

I have exactly the same problem with my Aspire One 150!

Perhaps the sata driver do not work? What is your Harddisk? I have ST9120817AS (120GB).

I use XXX 10.5.6, Installation starts fine (welcome screen), but disk utility shows the hard disk drive always empty, even if there already Partitions! (I tried diffrent other tools to create partitions...)

And when I try to create a partition with disk utility my computer can not write to disk ("Input Outpur Error").

But my harddisk is ok, Windows works without problems.

    Please help!

    What can I do?

    Bios-Version: 0.3301
    Acer Aspire One 150
    Sata 120GB (ST9120817AS)

    Solution

Perhaps I have the solution for the Input/Output Error Problem!

First I updated my Bios to the newest Version, but I think this is not the trick.

Do you have the Bios-Hardisk-Password enabled? Try to disable it and replace it for a simple Bootpassword. Could help!
