Problems accessing firefox

    After re-installing my linux software I cannot access firefox or hotmail from the icons. Although I can get onto my e-mail and messenger by single clicking the icons. Has something got switched off during installation?
    Also how do I access "Device Manager"?
    I have a Aspire One 110Ab, model no ZG5.
