Problems after system recovery

    i have just had to do a system recovery. Now I have no keyboard icon in the settings and the live update just says its 'finding the fastest server' then says 'retrieving data from server' then does nothing at all. The update icon is not showing as I type but a box has come up asking me to click on the icon to get updates but the icon is'nt there and it does'nt work through settings. I'm lost as to what I can do. Any help greatly appreciated. I've only had it back from Acer about two months ago. They put new bios in and reimaged it. I do't know if that would cause the problems as I put the system back in from the original CD.
