Problems connecting wirelessly after installing mobile partn

Well I installed mobile partner so I could attach my new o2 dongle to the computer and that works fine. I installed mobile partner by downlaoding the file and installing it via a file in download.

Now I can't seem to get the wireless network to work anymore. It works via a network cable, as I'm on now.

Have searched and tried the deleting the networrk manager and rebooing, tried to adjust the network card power settings and still no joy.

I'd rather not reinstall as I haven't created a reinstall disk.

Whats happened can anyone help?

Well as no one rreplied I emaailed acer support and recieved this reply:

We have been made aware of the network icon issue in Linpus Linux , and have been provided with a temporary workaround, while the software vendor investigates this issue. Please follow the steps below:
1. Open the terminal by ALT+F2 and then type terminal then click on Run.
2 Type mv ~/.gconf/system/networking ~/ then press enter to clear all the root network connections.
There is one space between mv and ~ and one space between networking and ~

3. Once these commands have been run please restart your machine.



If this hasn’t worked please try this command:
1. Open the terminal by ALT+F2 and then type terminal then click on Run.
2 Type Sudo gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /system/networking then press enter to clear all the root network connections.
3. Once these commands have been run please restart your machine.



If this hasn’t worked please try this command:
1. Open the terminal by ALT+F2 and then type terminal then click on Run.
2 Type rm -rf ~/.gconf/system/networking then press enter to clear all the root network connections.
3. Once these commands have been run please restart your machine.



After doing this, it will not have "ANY" network connections that may have been previously setup in network manager.

Reboot the unit and the network icon will appear. The customer will need to configure the network again.

Hopefully this will help other people that will have this problem.

after installing patches 180048 and 180076 (both came at same time), i had no wireless icon and was unable to connect using LAN and when clicking on 'network manager' had no response.

thankfully i had other laptop to look for fixes
