Problems with xchat on Ubuntu after tweaking

Hello, I followed the guide on Ubuntu's homepage on setting up my One with Ubuntu ([url=https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne]this guide[/url]). It works great, everything except xchat. Every time I open xchat it goes about 3-5 second and it closes without warning or giving any error messages or anything. I followed most of the tweaking options on the tutorial (except video performance, netbook and powersaving). I think it might be because I relocate the temp files to the RAM, but I'm not sure, I haven't used Linux enough to know. Thank you for any help you provide :)
