Just acquired a new Aspire 1 and am having problems installing extra programs.

I am fairly familiar with Ubuntu and Debian based installation procedures but on the Aspire 1 I am continually getting dependency problems when I try to instal programs.

Did manage to search for and instal Wine using the supplied program manager and ended up with version 0.9.47 which was released in October 2007 - 18 months ago.

Are repositories the same with fedora as with debian

Soudns like you may still have the older repos enabled: there's a post on macles blog which covers this.
