program Installation

    I just bought my Aspire One with linux & I am a complete newbie; I have tried looking through this forum but I still can’t figure out it out.

    Every time I try & download an application/software I can’t seem to run the application, I have also tried to use software off a USB but it still doesn’t work. I have tried to install wifi radar by downloading it & through a USB but it doesn’t let me install it. What am I doing wrong?
