fsilva: look in earlier posts in this thread! it explains what the difference is between a standard and flipped cable. then goto ebay to find them. there are multiple ebay stores and individuals that sell these. new ones show up all the time.

OK.. so i have been modding my aspire one and just a while ago i noticed a kind of burning sound.. like a crackling... I opened up my aspire one and took a look under the heatsink and noticed that it was slightly separated from the cpu and video.. the heat transfer pad/goop had been burned past use... So i put some arctive mx-2 on it. Is this ok for these chips. I am actually on the notebook right now so it is running fine, I just wonder if i will be running into any issues later. As far as i know mx-2 is not conductive but i did notice it is a different consistency than what was on there. The old stuff seemed maybe slightly plasticy. Any suggestions. I don't want to kill this thing before i get my new runcore 32gb.

I REALLY want to hear from anyone who buys one of these!
I am seriously considering the 32gb one but I want some real specs in the AAO first!

Would this work with a bigger CF card? 16gb perhaps as they are only £20 on amazon?

Why would a 2.5" SATA drive be specific to the Aspire One? Not much use for an A110.

What about thoses, aren't they made especially for the AAO?

    http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/Catego ... i+ZIF+SSDs

They're in Preorder too, so they must be a new products.

Compared to the 1.8'' version, the read speed is identical, but write speed seems lower (35 vs 63), nonetheless it seems a interesting alternative and might even be a direct swap solution?

Yes, I would expect the RunCore Mini ZIF devices to be PCB-based, in the same fashion as the Acer OEM units from Intel and Samsung. Hopefully RunCore/MDD will release some photos soon.

Pity about the poor write speed compared to the other low-cost Runcore "Pro" SSDs. The Mini, 1.8" and 2.5" SATA versions all seem to be the same price for a given capacity so I'd be tempted to go for the 1.8" ZIF version and remove the plastic case.

With the cable unflipped (stock SSD style) the LED comes on at boot but is not recognized in BIOS (NONE).

    Anyone get past this point?

If the HDD LED is permanently on then this usually indicates that one end of the ZIF cable has the wrong orientation.
