Now my 300x CF is running UDMA mode 5 on my Aspire One
I just order mine.... Forget acer warrenty with there crappy SSD... I rather mod it and have better more functional machine
Dear all, Cutting the circuit and removing bits from the netbook are too difiicult for me. Did anyone manage to find a space for the CF card other than the current one??? PLZPLZ plz kindly let me know and show me photos of that/// MANY THANKS!!!!
I am very interested in performing this mod, but I have a practical question about read/write speed. While the stock SSD is certainly slower than I'd like, I am also suffering from space constraints. Running under Fat32, I cannot mount my class 6 SDHC card as an NTFS folder to expand storage like I did on my Eee 701, so this limits me in some ways. So here's my question. Will this 32-gig 133x card be significantly slower than this 8 gig 300x card, for day-to-day use? If the 300x card is fast enough to format as NTFS, then I could mount my SDHC card again. If I'd have to stick with Fat32 either way, then I'd rather go with the larger card. I typically run Microsoft Outlook, Firefox, and Skype. I have Microsoft Outlook installed onto the SDHC card and it is remarkably more responsive than anything installed on the SSD. If I'm satisfied with the speed of my SDHC card, disappointed in the SSD, and just need the laptop to be responsive under Windows XP, what is my best bet?
The Transcend Compact Flash brochure lists the Maximum Transfer Speeds for the 133x cards at 20MB/s read and 10MB/s write. That does seem a lot slower than the 300x cards.
ok i cannot make the computer to detect the transcend....this is a waste of money .... i bought 2 adapters and 16gb 300x transcend and it doesnt detect....the problem is not with the motherboard or the connector cause ive tried to change it to the default SSD and it works i thought id give it another try .... so i bought another transcend 8gb 300x ( EXACTLY the same as andy's ) and the adapter also EXACTLY the same (sintech).... but why the hell is doesnt detect it??? ive wasted 600 SGD for this CFs and adapters.... i have 2 adapters so i dont think the adapters are broken... a forum user even came to my house and helped me and it still doesnt detect the CF??? am i missing something here? plz help cause ive wasted lots of money for this CF...
Make sure the PCB on the CF-to-ZIF card isn't shorting on the mobo or casing anywhere. That would cause the card to become unreadable. If you could post some pics of your installation, that would also help!
You are using filp side cable ? default acer cable =================================================== xxxxxxxx------------------------------------------------xxxxxxxxx ====== film cable xxxxxx contact need change to flip side cable -------------------------------------------------------------xxxxxxxxx ===================================================== xxxxxxxxx-------------------------------------------------------------
andy can u please explain what is flip side cable? i used the cable from the adapter....the thick one.... and ive tried both sides
When you connect zif to CF Board, It must match Pin 1 from mother board to CF board, and contact finger normal is downside , then cable must be filp (oppsite) side one.
Ok guys I've got a small question. First of all, will Transcend 133x handle this job or I need 300x? And second.. is it possible to make this happen with CF Microdrive? Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Seagate-8GB-Compa ... 0254956297 Its compactflash too.. with ZIF adapter it might work. What do you think? Cheers
If you using Transcend 133x read 18MB write 6 ~ 7 MB/s and it is MLS not SLC , short life (10 times less). and result same as default SSD. The CF Microdrive will gen all lot of heat is no suitable in close and tiny place...
