    search for: "CF to ZIF 1.8 hard disk adapter" on eBay. There are several different models, but you can see the model numbers in the pictures.

    Acer SDD cable is standard one , my filp side cable come from my zip to cf Kit...one standard and one filp side..

    I will try to help ,find it in ebay or any ....

    can you execute a run of ATTO disk benchmark (downlodable here http://kb.ciprico.com/lore/article.php?id=268) and publish the results?

    This help us to decide :)

    From the pictures in Andy53's post about the "flip" ZIF cable, I can't seem to find a cable that appears similar. If someone finds a location of this flip cable, please provide a link :D

    Andy Thank You, what's up under 64 KB? I atteched the Intel 8GB SSD benchmark from 1 to 1024KB.

    do you think best thing you have done by modding the SSD. thinking of doing this or just changing my to asus..

    running XP on ym acer one if runs ok now formatted in fat32... but does freez from time to time

    Does the compact flash make a massive differance to performance compared to the OEM SSD on the Acer or stand Harddrive

    Just to make sure i get one I've ordered 2 of these adaptors (each from a different place), I've decided Windows is probably the way to go and the SSD is simply not up to it!

    If i can bag a sub £100 16MB Super fast CF card then i'm gonna go for it :)

    Any info on a good CF card in the UK would be appreciated, thanks

    Yea there are some good 300x but you will pay about £30 from uk compnay better to orer from abroad ship it in

    I was thinking of taking my back changing it for MSI wind but think that is going to be easy this CF way forward

    Thanks for the info but I really want to purchase in the UK.

    Have you seen the MSI Wind? I was in a store where the Wind, Asus eee and Acer One were all sat next to each other and the The Acer one looked by far the best. The MSI is somewhere between the size of a Netbook and a Laptop, I really think it's just a little too big to be considered a Netbook/UMPC.

    The only negative about the Acer One is the Super Slow Disk (SSD) which can be fixed with this (Zif to CF) solution. I think when buying a Acer One we should factor in an 1GB memory stick, Zif to CF Adaptor and 8GB 300x CF card which would cost about £70 extra in the UK. So when the Acer One is Widely available for £220 Your still looking at under £300 for probably the best Netbook/UMPC available :)

    Yea MSI was little to big...There is also Advent laptop on the market which is rebrand of MSI wind which Pc world Sell..

    due with CF (SSD) block mode, please try to test starting in 64kb... , too low will merge up the block writing..

    My mod SSD to CF300x is base on who ready get acer one, and hopefull install Windows OS with normal performance,

    Not for user , plan to buy a brand new with this mod, waste time and money.... :cry: :cry:
