    Guys,

After much reading 3weeks ago I decided to buy my self an Asus EEE PC 1000H... I loved it for the first few days.... Then suddenly I hated it! It was a waste! It was chunky fat, big and "cheap"!!!!!

I then came to this forum to browse... After 1hour of reading threads my decision was final... TO SELL THE PEE-PEEC AND GET MY SELF A UBER BLACK ASPIRE ONE 150

So what did I do? I scaled the internet and eBay for the best deal I could find and finally found a retail shop near my work "Office Works" that sold the Black one for $550 AUD. I ran down and scored my self one!!!

    Happiest man alive!!

I just finished re installing WINXP Pro on it and flashing the BIOS... I'll be installing 1GB DDR2 667 ram tonight and I'm thinking about modding it with other things as well.

But I just wanted to let you guys know that the Aspire One rocks!!! comming from an Pee-PeeC!!! You all have defiantly made the right decision.

BTW I will take this email to say Hi and introduce my self as well..

asl? lol -> 20something, male, sydney.
    job? -> cisco stuff :)

    Catch ya :)

Change the HDD while you are there to a 7200rpm one. Maybe change the wireless to 4965 Intel card as well...

I think the Aspire One is great also. I've only got the basic 512mb 8gb ssd version but it does everything I could want and more.

Incidental I went into a Staples yesterday and had a go of the Eeepc 900 for the first time. The keyboard mightily sucks and it bent downwards by just typing on it - very off putting. I though its linux distro sucked to, Linpus is so much nicer.

    Long live the Aspire one.

Yea I'm planing on modding it all in one go with,

    RAM - 1GB DDR2 677 (total 1.5GB)
    HDD - Thinking about a 320gb 8MB 5400rpm HDD or a 60GB ZIF HDD
    Touch Screen
    Wireless - Intel Wifi 5300 MIMO 802.11N Wireless N Mini PCI-E Card

    320gb 5400rpm HDD http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Western-Digi...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318

    60GB ZIF HDD http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-8-60GB-MK6...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318

Now my only problem is which HDD? LOL could anyone shed some light on personal opinion? I tried to search the forum but couldn't find much on my specific requirements.

I have 60GB ZIF. HDD is faster then OEM SSD - that's why I actually changed. Bigger capacity, no problems with read/write cycles atc. For me that is very good solution for very small money...

Any 2.5" SATA drive will work, just a trade off for battery life vs. performance, cost vs. capacity. Note a ZIF-style drive is not compatible with your Aspire One model.
