    Hey guys,

Before i start can i just thank the people who made and support this site and all the users in here. This site has been absolutely amazing! I've solved all my problems in here by using that magical search function =] well, that is, up untill recently when i tried installing Qnext.

I've downloaded the files at http://www.qnext.com/download_linux.php then i have extracted the files and tried to execute it. It doesn't work. The name of the executable file is qnext so i've tried double clicking, right click and execute but nothing seems to work. When i searched google there was a issue to those who dont have java installed by java seems to be working fine on my laptop.

on their site it gives the instructions:

    bunzip2 qnextsetup.tar.bz2
    tar -xf qnextsetup.tar
    cd qnext
    ./qnext

those commands dont work on linpus... how can i install qnext? anyone? please help me :(

When you say the commands don't work, what error messages are you getting?

I'm quite new with linux so i might be doing a obvious mistake.
Everything seems to work up untill
    Code:
    ./qnext
when i type that i get
    Code:
    qnextclient: xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.
    Aborted

Someone else seems to have had this problem in the past: see http://forum.qnext.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3401

The qnext developers response to that seems to indicate they think it's a solved issue; perhaps you could try posting to their forum to see if they can advise. It looks as though it's not just Linpus!

I'm confused, do you understand what he means with export? I typed in
    Code:
    export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1
    but nothing happens :S

That workaround seemed to be something the developers thought was no longer necessary!

Incidentally, you shouldn't expect anything obvious to happen after the 'export' command - if a Linux command succeeds, it generally gives no output to the terminal.
