This week I got my brand new as1410 and started instantly poking around to see what I could change. There is one thing that confused me and I want to see if anyone has an answer.

My 1410 has a pci-e port that has the intel 5100 wireless chip sitting in. But right next to that is where another pci-e port can go, except there is no slot soldered to the board. Is it possible to solder a pci-e slot to the board and would it be usable. I am very good at soldering so I'm not afraid, I just want to know if the board would be able to recognize another card before I go through the hassle of doing the mod.

Apart from soldering connector there will be something else to do like providing power, USB signals etc. It's a type of modification similar to the one for AA1. You need to get detailed schematic to clarify which circuits needs to be done...
