Can someone define these terms, Suspend (disk, ram?), Sleep, Standby, Hibernate, as to how they function on the AAO in Linpus Linux? And how you initiate each of them? And what draw on the battery each may have.....

Indeed. As far as I can see the Linpus A110 does not have the option to suspend to disk (i.e. Hibernate) out of the box, just suspend to RAM (Sleep). Can anyone confirm if I am correct and if so offer a method of implementing suspend to disk?

For an explanation of the difference between suspend and hibernate take a look here: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=167760

There are several references to "hibernate" with Acer Linpus in these forums but I suspect that people are actually confusing this with suspend-to-ram. Alternatively, it occurs to me that maybe hibernate (as in suspend-to-disk) is possible with Linpus but only with a later bios than mine (v0.3305).

To clarify, if I click the red Quit icon at the bottom right of the taskbar I get the following options: Lock, Sleep, Restart & Shutdown. There is no option to Hibernate.

Can anyone confirm if they are actually able to Hibernate with Linpus i.e. suspend to disk such that the Aspire One powers off completely but on next boot up your desktop, along with any runing applications and open windows, is restored?

p.s. apologies to aclinml for hijacking your post - hopefully you'll agree that its all related!
