Hi All. First post. I've got a Gateway LT2030U that I bought from a coworker for a pretty good price. I understand it's a AOD250 clone. This is my first netbook, and I'm enjoying it. I was exploring the available slots and noticed there's a free mini PCI-e slot where the 3G module would go. My first question is about the slot. I thought I read somewhere that the slot isn't powered without some motherboard modding. Is that the case or is it usable. Secondly for those that have used the BCM970015, is there anything special that needs to be done to use it other than installing the drivers? Can it be used in the free slot or do I have to put it in the slot housing my wifi card?

I've like to use it to watch HD video online, and I'm hoping it will help in decoding my USB TV card as all channels are not viewable since they all send HD content.

    Thanks.

I have an AOD260, which more resembles the 255(E) I suppose, but my BCM70015 (branded Azurewave, a.k.a. "Aether"; Habey also makes the same card with practically the same model name) is AMAZING and I had no issues installing or using it. The second (left) half-card slot should be powered and capable without any extra modifications, I would think. Are you running Windows or Linux? (The latter requires a little more effort in terms of compiling the module and getting it properly supported in ffmpeg.)

Secondly, too bad we don't have space for both cards or for one half and one full-height mini PCI-E card...

The HB-MAT5070 mini-PCIe HD Digital TV tuner card is based on ATI’s Theater HD T507 chipset. It can handle the new ATSC, DVB-T, Clear-QAM digital TV signal (unencrypted digital TV) as well as PAL, SECAM, NTSC analog TV signal, providing maximum flexibility and compatibility. This add-on TV tuner mini card delivers DTV content on notebook PCs, netbooks, Home Theater PCs (HTPC) and digital signage and support high definition TV signals. The built-in hardware acceleration feature reduces CPU utilization, lowers power consumption and enhances mobile and industrial platform designs. The HB-MAT5070 also allows you to capture stunning visual detail with its new advanced video processing technologies and signal reception features.

I would love to stick that in, but I think I'd have to forego using a wireless card, and I'm not sure if that card has the same sort of codec acceleration.

    Good luck!
