I was pretty upset when I discovered that the media player in my AAO can't read QT files. I'm pretty sure it won't read other kinds of multimedia files I use on my Vista and Apple machines (mp4 etc.) Is there a way to load a comprehensive set of codecs for Linux without messing up my netbook? I'm a total Linux noob, but I'm not entirely stupid, since I managed to activate the advanced mode, log-in as an administrator and even install a couple of new programs.

VLC Media Player will solve all your video and audio problems. There are comprehensive instructions on the forums here for installing. By the way, there are versions for Windows and Apple, too. Refer to videolan.org.
