You must have misread that. They concluded that the AAO simply has a percentage that fail in that manner,(as is expected with any type of electronics.) and that it was a coincidence that they had kingston 667 ram in them. there were other people who had not upgraded or even cracked open their AAO who had the same problem. It's just a big coincidence.

YES the difference is HUGE. pc-xxxx is just a different way or representing the speed of a module. pc = DDR(or earlier type) pc2= DDR2 pc3=ddr3 etc. anyway, DDR/pc is incompatible with DDR2/pc2 they are electronically incompatible. a DDR stick will physically not fit in a DDR2 slot.

If you're having trouble finding RAM consider looking on newegg.com? (idk if they ship to australia) or ebay?

    Is this the official list?

    Patriot PSD21G8002S (PC2-6400 800Mhz SODIMM CLR5) works fine.

Please read the List again. There are 2 Types of Kingstons they vary in Voltage. The ones with higher Voltage are unstable and crash. The higher voltage models seem to be an older version of the new xxx1G and xxx1GR models, which work 100% fine now.

This list gets updated every once in a while not sure if there are other lists around.
There is a 1st list that is never updated. So yeah

    I did mention I was dense! :p

Actually I think I'm right in saying this corsair is mentioned in the main list as being reported as unstable by some users -
"Corsair VS1GSDS667D2 - Some Reported as Unstable" It's the same thing as we've both posted isn't it?

Put mine through a 48 hour memory test and its 100% stable.

Nearly every memory module will have some which fail in the first 48 hours or show some instability. Thats a manufacturing fault and can happen to any make and model.

It also appears as if the onboard RAM cab display some instability which could make it appear to be the add-on.

Well i seen ppl runing VS1GSDS667D2 (With out the /EU) Fine but i also seen a good hadnfull of ppl run in trouble with them.
It might be b/c some people aren't looking at the details and didn't report the Complete Serial Number with the /EU
Who knows But i will be removing the non /EU from the list to play it save.
It wont mean its completetly faulty, but the /EU seem to have a 100% chance so far.
Where as the non /EU seem to have a good 25% fail rate from all the users on here.

    Hope this helps.

Just tried installing PNY 1GB DDR2 667 "Optima" memory in my Aspire one 110L, but is wasn't detected. BIOS setup and Linpus both reported 512MB, other than that seemed to run normally. I re-seated the memory but that changed nothing.

On the bar-code on the packaging it says "SODI101GBN/5300/2-BX", on the DIMM itself there is a sticker

    PNY Technologies Europe
    1GB DDR2 SODIMM
    64A0TFTYE8G17

on the other side of the DIMM is a sticker

    AE 1GB DDR2-677 CL5, PC2-5300S-555
    AET760SD00-30D

    Chips are labelled
    AENEON
    AET93R300
    B 0815

I'll let you pick which one of these you want as the part number. :D

Edit: a colleague tested the RAM stick in his laptop in the meantime and it worked, so it's not a case of the RAM being DOA. On-line shops list the RAM with identifier "SODI101GBN/5300/2-BX" so I guess that one's the part number.

Not even sure if that's particularly fast ram... it was the only brand/type of 1GB SODIMM the shop had.

I noticed that you listed the RAM under Compatible/Working, but this RAM did NOT work for me.

PNY SODI101GBN/5300/2-BX does NOT work, it isn't detected by the BIOS. The AA1 still runs, but with only 512MB.
