Thanks, updated the list seems like ppl with that ram have better luck with the EU version than the non-EU version.

I got rid of my linpus lite(non-acer) grub with the link below.
I used a ms-dos 9x/XP boot Floppy turned into a USB boot stick.
    http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-how- ... tall-grub/

When i installed ubuntu and ended up with ubuntu grub
I had to use this program.
    pmagic-usb-3.5

And when I installed Backtrack i was stuck with Lilo which i could not find a way to get rid of it LOL
So i installed it via USB and Checked Retunr Orignal MBR and used Grub to Dual boot XP and Backtrack

    Hope this helps

I want to report a complete success with the RAM upgrade.
I watched the video on how to disassemble the Aspire One and also skimmed over the Technical Service Manual prior to doing it.

    I replaced the factory 512mb strip with this: Micron 1Gb DDR2 667Mhz CL5 (MT8HTF12864HDY-667E1)
    It was SUCCESSFUL.
I now have a total of 1.5gb of RAM.

    Several notes:
    1) It is extremely difficult to remove the keyboard without knicking the top edge of the keyboard. I tried with credit cards as some others have suggested but without success. I would recommend some thinner plastic material to try and do this if you want to leave it completely spotless.
    3) When trying to remove the plastic bazel around the keyboard, put the netbook onto it's side so the ports are facing upwards. If you look on the side where the ports are, you will see a separation where the base of the netbook ends and the plastic bazel begins. Press down on the bazel firmly (but not enough to warp the plastic). This should pop the bazel off. I find that it is more difficult on the side with the 2 USB ports than the other side to do this. But it can be done.
    3) When lifting the motherboard off the chassis base, be extremely careful of the speaker wire on the bottom. It is that black wire that runs from the top of the motherboard and wraps around underneath near the bottom of the motherboard. Do not try to lift the motherboard from the bottom edge as this will break the speaker cable. Gingerly slide the motherboard downwards and flip it towards you from the top.

If people want pictures of what I mean about any of those points above, let me know via private message ;)

    Hope that helps all.

Maybe everyone could run http://www.memtest.org/ on any memory they try.
I ran it on my memory and have also not had stability issues.

I'm not sure if it's true, i used a 1GB PC2-5300 Kingston KVR667D2S5/1G with 1.8V, but my one randomly gave Blue Screen Of Death with error about something_less_than_or_not_equal error, and Physical Memory Dumping at the bottom of the screen. I guess it's entirely related to my Ram, i took the stick out and put back the original samsung stick and it works fine for the the last day.

Just to update, Just stay away from Kingston unit, they shouldn't be in the compatible list

    Sorry for being afk.

Some news from China, Japan, Europe and USA
Beware of Fake Kingston KVR series Ram Modules.
It seems like there are Hynix style Kingston ram floating around.
there are 3 types of fake Kingston ram. One using Hynix ram chips, One using Kingston Laser edged and Faded Printed Lower ID on Ram id, and the third is boasting a fake looking sticker.

I will update how to tell the difference between the bad ones and good ones later this week trying to find some pictures.

But for now stay away from Kingston KVR series ram.
I was lucky enough like alot of other to get my hands on the real ones.

I will investigate this issue further more.

** FALSE ALARM - the RAM wasn't seated right in the SODIMM - rookie mistake - the 1GB module is now recognized and seems to be working fine - sorry for posting too quickly without double checking my work first. **

I just finished installing Crucial 1GB PC2-5300 128MX64 (CT12864AC667) which is listed below as being compatible and working, but when I rebooted all I got was my same old 512Mb - it didn't recognize the added 1GB. I'm running an AAO 8GB SSD that was originally Linpus but I wiped it and installed XP.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Thanks

Every time i boot it does a systemcheck with booting and when i try to do something that request something from my Aspire (like internetting or even installing Avira antivir) i get a blue screen error.
I did write down 2 of the errors, but googling has been unsuccesfull on them.

    Stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0800005, 0x80551ae2, 0xaa414gb0, 0x00000000)
i dont know its name exactly, so ill just post whats on the sticker that is on the RAM module:
