    Hello,
I seem to be getting conflicting stories here. I am looking at two AspireOnes. One is the 120GB HDD Linpus version, the other is the 160GB HDD XP version. I've seen online people dismantling their AspireOne to fit in new sticks of RAM and that has somewhat put me off doing it, simply because I haven't got the time right now. However... in the service manual it says
Is this just the HDD version or just the SSD version?

    Thanks very much! :)

In both types you can upgrade RAM. There is slot on the bottom of motherboard dedicated for memory expansion...

I assume, you have to completely dismantle the device to do this?

On the older 8.9" models you had dissemble your AA1 to upgrade the RAM but on the newer 10.1" models have a small door on the bottom that give you access to your RAM slot. I believe the same is true for the 11.6" models also but I am not sure since I don't own an 11.6 model.

I suppose I could do that myself to be honest. Irritating, because I don't want the new one, i liked the fact the older ones were small and convenient :(

The D250 10.1" is smaller and lighter than the D150 10.1 inch. The D250 10.1" is also thiner than the 8.9" SSD AO110 I have.

I have to agree you should go for the XP model unless you are wanting Linpus specifically. If you get the Linpus version I suspect you will be changing Linpus so it is nothing like it comes or you will be switching to a different distro or XP. If you go for the XP version then you can add Linpus or any other distro in a dual boot configuration.

Well, for what its worth. I went for the Linpus 1GB version and have just completed nLiting myself a version of XP. Linpus just seems buggy and far too simple for what I need. Hey, i love the laptop though, its great :D

I just scored athe AOD150 3 cell XP version and I bought some ram that was not compatible so need to flog it and buy some Kingston which I see is compatible. IN my haste I bought the wrong Crucial module. Simple memory upgrade one screw on the bottom.

Now to find a 6 cell battery for it ........
