    A random item appeared on my desktop while i was messing about (see attached image) . I obviously clicked something or other. My problem is that it stays above all screens /applications i open and does absolutely nothing but annoy me.
    I have looking in settings to see if i can find anything (new to linpus so may of missed something) and right clicking on it does nothing.
    If i put my mouse over the star is lights up as if an application but clicking does nothing. It also says;

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hmmm, could that be something you tried to add to the panel?

    Cheers.

    okay .. im a bit of a beginner =] ...i have the same issue with the same floating icon... how do i get rid of it? ...also, the tool bar across the bottom of the page has dissapeared ... now if i minimise a window i cant retrieve it (except alt-tab) but thats irritating! any ideas? cheers muchly.

    ...ive figured how you remove the panel ... except i cant because mine isnt a second panel ... its replaced my first but now just says "new item this item has not yet been configured", its of no use to me =/ ... how do i get the original one back & any ideas how i got it in the first place as i didnt do anthing ... it wasnt there when i shut it down & was when i started it up! =[

    Do ALT-F2 and in it run: xfce4-panel-a

    This will open a "Add Items to the Panel" window.

    Simply drag and drop the new item from the panel to this window and it should be removed from the panel.

    To see minimized windows on the panel, simply drag and drop FROM the window to the panel a "Window List".

    Close the window.

    Cheers.

    Hmmm... those "stars of death" happened to me the first day I had mine following the first live update - only answer was a recovery intall from the disc supplied (you need a PC with a CD drive and a spare 4 Gig USB stick).
    Fortunately it hasn't happened since.
